I hope I am posting this in the correct spot. Are these the correct mirrors for 1966 Barracuda Formula S ? If so is there a way to tighten the mirror ball and socket? The mirror is loose so once positioned the first bump you hit and it’s done.

I have the same mirror on my 66 dart sedan. I do not think there is any repairing the looseness. Although I do think you can pop out the ring clip that holds the glass in, which would give you access to the inner part of the mirror.

I've heard you can **** the mirror completely out of adjustment, add a dab of crazy glue to spot that will result in slight interference with the correctly adjusted position and that will give it a little stability. Supposed to work on rear view mirrors also.

Yes that is the correct mirror.
There is a trick to tighten them but I have not done it myself.
Apply a dap of super glue on the pivot ball of the mirror and continuously move the mirror head until the glue hardens, DO NOT glue it in one position, this will put a layer of glue on the pivot ball & it should hold it in place while still allowing adjustments.

Sounds logical! Am I brave enough to try it....That is the real question.

Also, I have the same mirror, but I bought it used and thought it was supposed to be original style. I think there might be a factory single post, but not positive.

Mine did the same thing on The Demon. I broke the old mirror glass out and had a glass shop cut more mirror glass. I tightened up the 2 screws and put on some Loctite that hold the ball tight and glued the new glass in. I'm sure in 66 they did the same thing as 71 for holding the ball tight.

I would try removing the mirror and see if there is a screw there that threads into the post. If it is an original, I believe the glass is held in by a ring on the circumference.

I bought a NOS one a couple years ago at a swap meet. The vendor said a quick way to tell original from reproduction is by pushing in on the glass.
If it moves inward, it's original.
If the glass is fixed in place, it's reproduction.

Good to know! I’ll let you guys know what I find!
