Lest we not forget our veterans who've served and are no longer with us for whatever reason.

Here is Robert Lee Merritt, Jr., aboard the USS Hilbert, DE742 circa 1944 doing "something" to one of the engines. You can see a piston and connecting rod behind him. He ain't lookin "none too happy" with the cameraman. LOL Thanks for your service Daddy, I wish I could thank you in person. I love you.

I always like to try and take my wife for a nice dinner around this time. I'm proud of her service...

I'm going up to Skyline cemetery this weekend to clean up an uncles head stone.

I'll check on my grandmothers and one of my best friends head stone when I'm up there.

Put my flag out this morning !
Showing my true colors !

I know Memorial Day is for fallen veterans, but Daddy is as close as I got. He served. He's not here anymore. Nobody else posted about it yet. I remember him always but especially on Veteran's Day and Memorial Day.

Happy memorial day my three great uncles that served in ww2 are no longer with us. My grandfather was the oldest of 4 sons he didnt get drafted but worked in the shipyard at Newport news from 42-46 people these days just dont understand the sacrifices made by everyone to give us the freedoms that we have today. Pisses me off to hear people take that for granted.

Amen. In the present day people take it for granted

Memorial day is very misunderstood. It is a day to remember fallen hero's that served our country to protect your rights and freedom we enjoy daily here. I served 25 years and always remember friends and comrades that have pass either while serving (as a volunteer) or have passed on. Think of it this way it is the unofficial start of the summer to enjoy because of these fallen men and women of our armed forces.

I don’t understand why people get this so mixed up. It’s for those who died in the service of our country. Veterans Day is for those who served. If they came home, lived a full life, Memorial Day is not
Meant for that

My son served in Army 15 months in Iraq back 2008. He told me a few gruesome stories I rather not share.
He came back hooked on pain pills. Took a toll on family but he got thru regardless of PTSD hes held A full time comcast job now for 5 years.
GOD BLESS ALL who served or currently are or made the ultimate sacrifice........ GOD BLESS AMERICA
