I have been helping a friend restore his 56 Studebaker Power Hawk for a while now. We totally finished the bottom of the body shell Sunday. Next step to dress up some welds (we replaced the front floor pans and a few other places) then a THOROUGH cleaning followed by some Epoxy Primer.

Dig the olde Studes, supercharged 289 ??

That should be a nice car when completed. One year only. An old bachelor, carpenter in the town where I grew up bought one new and it had a 259 with a four barrel carb on the dealer lot. He said he didn't want the four barrel because it was just a way to use more gas, but it was what was available so he bought it. He was telling me this in 1970 when I asked about his car. His was sort of a deep yellow color and still in great shape in 1970. I wonder what happened to that car?

Nice choice to rebuild. Design ahead of it's time. Think they had a Packard engine in the first year of the Golden Hawk.

Beautiful car ^^^
They were so far ahead of their time , they put themselves out of business. Quite aerodynamic . Had an uncle that owned/drove a couple diff ones, his last one had a safety feature, that it wouldn`t go into reverse if the shifter got bumped while driving . The supercharged 289`s were pretty fast back in that day, would eat most everything else up .
