I am trying to finish a 73 Duster that I bought . The car was a 6 cylinder car that someone started to convert to a V8 car . It was minus the distributor. I am putting a new HEI in it with a hot coil but can't figure out how to hook it up. I finally got a set of instructions but don't know what I need to do with the ballast resistor or the ECM. Do I hopk them up or bypass. May just go back to standard distributor rather than this hipo set up. BTW the motor is supposedly a performance built motor. Help!!

Hook all wiring at the ballast together. If you want, unwrap and strip out the wires to the original ECU connector, or just tuck it away and leave it. Now your old coil wire is switched 12v "run" This then feeds power to the new ignition.

The reason you need to jumper everything is what is called IGN2 bypass circuit. That is hot during cranking, the run IGN1 is hot during "run"

You can download shop manuals and wiring diagrams free from MyMopar. Some of them there, came from the guys right here
