This was at a local dealer and I bought it so I can taxi my 93 year old mom around. She can get in and out of this really easy, it’s just the right height.
I know I paid too much for it but it has only 58,000 miles and the AC works along with everything else.

Looks good. Hopefully with such low mileage, you won't have any "PT Loser" issues. lol

Nice cars, fun to drive and easy to get in and out of.

Several years ago I had one for a daily driver. Gas mileage wasn't great but it handled like a go kart! Yours looks real clean!

My wife had a Neon, to this day she still loved that car.
But at 100,000 miles the car started falling apart around the power train.
Stupid crap starting breaking like the ignition key, clutch that started slipping after pulling off the interstate re-fueling.
I was done with it after it cost $1000 for a clutch replacement from a one year only Chrysler f-up that had no bleeder on the clutch, it was a sealed unit.

Bought 2 brand new. They are good to 100-125,000 then get out the check book every month after that.
The turbo was a lot of fun to drive.
Boought them to haul 80 year old mother in law around. Like you said it was easy for her to get in and out of.

Super practical car, good luck and be safe in your new ride. Bless your mom too.

Watch for trans issues...

Bought my wife a brand new 'Limited' one (non-turbo) in 2005. She loved it. Old Momma liked it too.
It started to shudder' ... Trans was repaired and a new converter installed under warranty.
Never was right so before it hit the 36k warranty limit traded it in on a ... hold on... a 2007 HHR .
It is a great car ... still have it.

PT = 22-24MPG
HHR = 29-32 MPG.. I hyper mile'd it to 41.4 on a 100 mile highway trip. @ 2000 RPM
Tires really do last 65k miles on this car. 134k miles and only recently got its 3rd set

Just had one in the shop. Customer wanted all motor mounts replaced........that is until she found out that you have to pull the engine to replace right/main mount. Also, you haven't really had fun, unless you have replaced a head gasket or radiator on one !

On our 3rd one. Its in storage until its needed. First 2 daughter wrecked, last one is in nice shape for 330,000 km’s.
It can sit, doesent owe us a thing. I buy em cheap and fix em up. Good for a couple years unless you let a teenager drive em. She has a caravan that is now suffering the same fate.
Blown rack. Third vehicle she has trashed the rack and pinion.

My wife bought a one new the first year (2001?) they came out. It was the base model, black (great paint job), a 4 speed, with grey interior, and had that tail gating shelf in the back. It was fun to drive. Our driveway had a sidewalk way close to the street and a sharp rise and it was hard getting in the driveway without scraping, especially in the winter. We trading it with only 28,000 miles after 4 years.

I had one several years ago, only trouble I ever had was timing belt broke at 170,000. Had to remove motor mount and jack up engine to replace it, also replaced water pump because it's hard to change the timing belt and water pump runs off it, figured it would be a good time to change it too. Had 230,000 when it was traded, no complaints it was a good car.

I forgot to mention how roomy they are in the rear compartment. I transported the rear window from a 66 Cuda nicely in the rear with the back seat down!!

They made millions of them. I visited hundereds of shops weekly on my tool route when I was in business and rarely did I see one tore apart in a million pieces (like some cars). Still quite a few on the road but most just died with 200,000+ on the clock.

I have an '03 that until recently was trouble free. It has under 80K on the clock and had always given me at least 24-25 in combined mileage and most always 30 to 35 on the highway Just this year I had to spend about 700 to fix emissions. I had also been warned that I should keep an eye on the front K member because of rust. Well, a short time later driving on some rather rough roads the right front LCA mount broke from rust so no the wheel is pointing out at about 1 o'clock. So it's parked until I decide if it's worth fixing or not.
