Power steering conversion

-
Get the power steering box, and power steering column with coupler from a donor car of the same or close year. With all of the right parts, it's a bolt in swap.

The manual column is longer with a different coupler.
If you want to work harder, there are ways to cut and modify what you have, there are adapters, there are universal joints to weld into the column, there are aftermarket steering boxes and adapters.

IMHO it's a lot more work and money spent then going with the first option.

I currently have manual steering, with an aluminum steering box and (I believe) the standard 24:1 ratio. I was considering either a quicker ratio box, or the quick ratio idler and pitman arms. I don't want sloppy steering, but I don't want steering that is gonna require big forearms, either.

I converted my 67 fish from manual to power using all OEM parts. I transplanted the shorter shaft with box coupling into my OEM column. Pump, pulley, everything else bolted right in.
Did this because I wanted a much smaller aftermarket steering wheel which brings another point... Chryslers power steering always has been too easy. Lil ol' ladies steer that big wheel with a pinky finger, zero feedback. There is a way to adjust that at the pressure relief valve in the pump. So it could take a bit of fine tuning to get exactly what you want.

Are you or do you plan to run headers? CVF Saginaw bracket brackets clear the 72-down K-fame with out a custom Pressure hose, it basically raises the pump up a bit. Send your PS box to Firm Feel and get the Stage 3 treatment. If you buy a PS box, get the attaching bolts too.

No plans on running headers. I have the hi-po manifolds with a TTI exhaust system. I don't want the sloppy steering that Chrysler is known for, but I also don't want steering that will require big muscles.
Can anyone here advise how the quick ratio idler and pitman arms feel? I'm not small by any stretch, so some effort isn't out of the question. However, I want to be able handle the car. It's a 4-speed car.
