Gas hot water boilers??

-
When I bought my home in 1990 there was a mobile home furnace with outlets going to 2 rooms, and a very old looking hot water tank. My father (A Plumber) saw that and immediately started to dismantle it all and pitched it outside.

The next day we picked up a new boiler, copper pipe, and "Fin Tubing" (copper pipe with aluminum fins attached to the length of the pipe) and the registers to attach them to the wall. We also got a insulated 40 gallon storage tank for hot water and we plumbed that all in, the storage tank has tubing inside of it and is connected to the boiler to heat the water inside, and also has a thermostat to fire the boiler should the water inside gets too cool.
The hot water for the Tank is on its own "zone" and the house heat is on another zone, each controlled by an electric valve called a "Zone Valve" if a zone calls for heat it fires up the Boiler and a circulating pump, and the Zone valves directs the hot water to either the water tank or the house or both.

My Boiler will heat water up to 190 degrees before shutting down, the Water tank has it's own thermostat to control the temp inside it. With this setup I have NEVER run out of hot water, my wife can be doing laundry, and I could be in the shower and the house needing heat in the winter time, and the boiler will keep up with it all.

I have never seen a unit like what you are looking at, if it does the same as my setup does in a self contained unit then by all means go for it.

They use small electric water heaters directly mounted to the shower heads in cheap hotel rooms overseas. Big warning sign: "Do not turn on unless water is running" I guess they cant figure out how to thermal cut out control these. Ill look into a tankless water heater when mine goes out. Kids will be out of here by then.
