Looking to purchase a harmonic balancer. If you have good/bad experience and recommendations I would like to hear from you. I believe its got a cast crank (1973 Block but was rebuilt) so it needs to be an external balance or come with weights for internal/external option.. This is for a street application and the set up is an automatic 904 with 355 rear sure Grip.

Thanks

Just about any of the aftermarket balancers will work for what you want. I shop around & find one that works for an externally balanced small block. In my opinion, I'd stay away from the Chinese made balancers.

Hard to tell whats made where. Nearly everything is made over seas especially this type of stuff. I have looked at Summit and Jegs and its rather limited. I am surprised. Lots of SBC though......

Google small block Mopar harmonic balancer & scroll through the listing. I have Romac balancers for both my external & internal balanced motor. Let your wallet be your guide because of the price differences. Just my .02

Fluidamper or Innovaters West.

Spend a little more to get away from elastomer dampers. They are very tempermental and the OE's used them because they are cheap to manufacture.

Buy a balancer for what youre doing.
If youre racing, great.. buy a high dollar fluid dampener, ati, etc

If youre just hot rodding or hitting the strip once in a while go buy a pioneer brand.
There is such a thing as overkill...and a cast crank 340 with fluid dampener 'that isnt in competition racing' is a good example of just that.
I really don't know all of what you're doing so I might not be spot-on. But unless it's Concours restoration I think I'd get a lighter piston and just use something like a #357 318 police crank... or just a regular cast crank and balance it up neutral...
