Hey everyone, I want to add a/c to my 65 Valiant. I have a 360 that's going in it. I'd like to mount the compressor down low where the power steering pump would be. Does anyone have a setup like this or know where I might find the brackets for this? I've seen the mounting brackets up high in the middle of the motor above the alternator. Don't really care for that setup. Planned on using the smaller Sanden compressor. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked with Vintage Air or Classic Auto Air?

The mechanical fuel pump must go for sure to mount it low. I choose to mount mine high. I used some 80's truck brackets and modified them to work with a Sanden style compressor. It is a very tight fit up high but works. Rod

Vintage Air makes the bracket, but it mounts in the 'traditional' spot which is high like in rklein383 picture above. I also wanted to mount it low on driver's side (I have manual steering) but didn't find a bracket and didn't want to go through the challenge of building one and also complicating the hose routing to the evaporator. If you need it, the Vintage Air bracket part number is 162774-SDA. My complete install info is here: A/C in a 1966 Dart GT with 360

Good luck

i have the same set up that rklein383 has, i used a 90 dodge pickup ac bracket ,but it also makes you have to change alternator , which the 74 duster i put it on had a 40 amp, i went with the 90 amp and done the bypass on the alternator gauge , replaced it with a voltage gauge

Thanks for the input everyone. I have a pic of a black 63 Valiant with an underdash a/c unit and his compressor is mounted low on the drivers side. Unfortunately the underhood pic doesn't show his brackets for the compressor.
