During the install of the 440 block into the 73 scamp I had a heck of a time getting the motor mounts correct to fit the headers, torsion barsmanual steering box. The headers ($1200 TTIs)were hitting the box and right torsion bar. Off and on they went. As much as I did not like it, I pounded on them to get them to clear. After getting them "adjusted" I was working underneath prepping for the exhaust system and I noticed this.

How did that happen? Why didn't I notice it sooner? All the frustration of pounding on things and damaging the ceramic coatings. I had to share so that anyone else that is having fitment issues, check there also. I switched to Prothane. More expensive but worth it.

Ouch!!!

That’s gonna leave a mark!!!(literally)

Sorry....... couldn’t resist.

Thanks for sharing.

Plenty of room now?

bummer. it always hurts a little more when it's a forehead slapper.
Thx for sharing, it might just save someone else some grief.

I've got a cheap crappy trans mount on my duster. I filled the voids with windshield urethane. Remains to be seen how well it holds up.

I hope you don't have solid motor mounts on the engine and running that trans mount. You have to leave some point of cushion or it will break the tailhousing if it mounted to tight.

Schumacher a-body big block mounts. Thanks for the advice. I will loosen everything and make sure there is no binding and re-tighten.

I recently had to fix a trans spool mount on a '73 'cuda. It was a cheap insert that had slipped and cocked at an angle...Wasn't causing a fitment issue, but had to be fixed...
