OK, I put the Comp Cam EX295HL-10 hydraulic flat tappet cam in my motor years back. The motor has always be noisy like a solid cam. I had discussions about this in the past but don't want to discuss that right now.
I love the way the car runs. Just a driver /727/323 gear. Did an 11.7 with it at track.
I decided to go solid and picked this Comp Cam CL21-232-4
Now thinking about this, I'm wondering if I should have stayed closer to original specs. I am now looking at Comp. 21-249-4.
I am not an expert at all at this so my question is do you think the car will be worse with the CL21-232-4 or should I purchase the 21-249-4 ?
I'm attaching all three specs. Go easy on me lol.

I can’t download your specs but I looked them up.

If (and it’s a big IF) you have the gear and converter for the 294 cam that’s what I’d use. No real reason for a split pattern cam that I can think of.

Well it's 323 gear, B&M hole shot converter that I estimate is stalling around 2800. I thought my 1st cam I put in it may have been too big but I like it.
As for Split pattern I don't know nuttin about .Sorry for my ignorance.
OK now I really have to go.

If that’s the gear and converter you have, I change my suggestion. I’d use 232 grind.

I don't blame you, I'm done with those XE and HL hydraulics myself...BUT remember to account for the lash of the solid when comparing to a hydraulic. In other words a solid will be a bit milder than a hydraulic with similar specs. So if you're happy with your current performance be ready for a step back with that xs282.. not that it's a bad thing if you're looking for better manners and don't mind giving up a couple ponies. If it's not too late consider contacting Dwayne Porter (PRH) or one of the other cam spec pro's like Bullet or Oregon and tell them all you have and what you want and let them set you up...it's not much extra money and they'll getcha a good match for your combo..

We used an XS290S in a friend's 440 Dart, and it was really milder than I thought it would be. Not really loud with it's tight lash, and really makes good power. With your cubic inches/stroke, I'd run it over the 294S or the smaller XS you listed. The 306S might work good too, I bought one to go in another guy's 383 4spd Road Runner that we were building a long-rod (440 length I beams) Diamond piston .060" over 383 (395") for. He had 4.30 gears and just enough compression to justify that big of a cam on the street.
