Gotta Love CrackList

Sime are really bad. But im not gonna complain because i was awake at midnight 5 years ago and saw a 1971 duster 318 numbers matching car on cl. It was a divorce need gone deal. Needless to say i now own it and paid 2300 for it and it came with $1000 dollars worth of new suspension parts.

Phakebook Farketphlase is worse in some ways.......Some of the same people and the website is a complete PITA, and the search engine sucks

I wholeheartedly agree. I phukin hate faceplant bucketplace. much more BS than CL and it's impossible to weed it out. I've reported a ton of fake adds and they don't do squat about it

I'm almost afraid to say it...but if i lived an hour away.....i would have gone and looked at it. Would NOT put any money down unless it was legit. I always wanted to be " that guy " that found a cool barn find.... however, with my usual luck, it would have been a scam.

A couple years ago I found a John deere mower for sale on CL for $400.00, deal seemed to good to be true, it was in the Clarksville Tennessee area not far from me so I called the guy and told him I would meet him to look at it, he put me off and said he would call me back, never did, so I tried to call him back and he would never answer, a few days later someone had him posted as a scammer, he was taking deposits to hold it . I lived close enough to actually go there so he knew he couldn't scam me.

I saw in ad the other day for a Ram P/U here in Cincy.
The $ was low, but not that far off.
But the turn off was the pictures. They all had the palm trees in the background.
I don't know if you've ever been to Cincinnati, but while in southern Ohio, we don't have palm trees.

Not even in the southern part of Cincinnati, down by the West Virginia River? :D:p:poke:

I called on a CL ad for a John Deere backhoe in NJ and said that I was interested and would come over right away to look at it. Then she told me it was actually in Nebraska. My reply was “click”.

Man I would buy that in a minute! I would even give him $20!

Somebody explain this to me. If you see an ad with a phone number but, you know it's a scam, then what is their angle? I've seen several trailers that I know the price is too good to be true. What are they wanting?

At minimum, they want your phone number/email address, and sell it to mailing lists/robocallers. Good money in that, even if they don't get it directly from you. Possibly more to it that I don't realize, too.

i remember seeing that jd backhoe ad in neb. a guy i worked with at the refinery called about it.

Wow an old junk Hemi Charger. You better jump on that fast!
bout a week before this thread got going someone listed a "free junk car" on my local C/L

the pics showed a late 60, early 70s camaro

according to the add, the car belonged to his dad, dad died and the kid just wanted it gone

then it said he didn't realize what he had, but he is now taking offers by email

always wondered if that one was a scam As well
