Hello I am trying to find out if a Dayco P/N PB1108SS Harmonic Balancer will work on a a 5.9 magnum engine with stock external balance. My brand new PRW balancer is junk. So I have to find something else. But there doesn't look like there is much to pick from for a magnum engine.

Do you mind if I ask what issue you had with the PRW balancer? I was actually looking at buying one, so real world feedback would be helpful.

On Summit's catalog, they list their balancer fitting Magnums and LA engines. Of course you can take that for what it's worth, but I seem to remember people putting LA balancers on Magnum engines for v-belt accessory drives.

The pulleys yes, but an LA balancer does not work on a factory Magnum as the balancing weights are different.

Sure. I was painting the TDC mark on the timing chain cover white. So I could see it better. Well I got a little paint run off. So I took a small paper towel, sprayed some break clean on it. To wipe the paint run off and just barely touched the Dampner. Needless to say that the timing marks from 30 to 40 degrees are now gone. I guess the timing marks on it are painted on and not machined

I think you're good with the the Dayco balancer. Rock Auto shows it as a replacement for a 1993 Magnum. The first couple of years they used a separate pulley, then around 1995 (?) they moved to the one piece balancer/pulley.

FYI: I went through the same issues for balancing. Earlier 5.9 were externally balanced later internally.
Which ever balancer you find that works verify that TDC and your timing mark match. Mine was off 6 degrees. Drove me nuts until verified.

The 360 were all externally balanced. The 360 magnum has a lighter rotating weight than the LA360. I am still unsure about the one i posted
Because on the website it shows the balancer working on a 89 360. I am going to call the company Monday and see what they say

I use the professional products 90012 on 2 of my magnums. No issues, and they do seem to smooth out a factory balanced motor a bit.
