I broke down my numbers along the way pretty good last year in this post if you look towards the beginning. I’m getting new cutters next week so now I can cut the seats earlier
 
I pulled the trigger on a pair of the bare unported heads. What are the best bang for the buck options for valves? If I do anything with them down the road they will get sent to PRH but with just some quick searches there doesnt seem to be alot of valve options.

I’m sure he can point you in the right direction on valves and may be able to save you a few bucks.

I have a set of these bare alum heads, and am in the same boat trying to figure out which valves to go with.
Which valves did you go with ?
Any takes on the Speedmaster valves ?
 
I've been running the speedmaster valves for about 4 years probably approximately 6000 miles no problems.
 
Good to know, and they are inexpensive. Should have bought them during the big sale.. :(

Too many too many gurus out here putting bugaboos and people's heads about Chinese products and blah blah blah... I know of a member who just had to have a set of empty heads so he can fill them up with quality parts as he put it then asking if someone's used retainers would fit and blah blah blah... What a nightmare he's not even putting them on anything.. just hoarding parts...

My favorite was everybody saying they need to be checked and when I called around to shops that did heads they said they wish they could sell brand new heads and say you better have them checked out LOL...
It turns out when I did have them checked out the guy said the lubricant had dried up a little bit and he really lubricated the valves for initial startup but also indicated that it probably wouldn't have caused me any trouble...
But since he had them apart and was in there...

Sorry brother I had to disagree with that one not only am I an internet supermodel I do have the slowest stroker on the internet....

Sometimes you seem like a pretty nice guy J par. If you lived closer I’d buy you a beer and take you on a Walmart shopping trip.
