Sounds about right.
I took one out of a 1984 Dodge ram that had a 65 amp rating. It was a Napa refurbished one.
However I would not go past 60-65 without upgrading the wiring.

No.
Those may be casting numbers for the end shields.
Squarebacks start in '72
The p/n was stamped. There's a picture in the sticky thread showing where to look.
Starting in '74 they got metal tags also shown in the sticky thread.

I don't have anything like a complete list but for '74 a production '50 amp' with the 2.75" double sheve pulley was p/n 3755 411
Lester 7509 or 7509A is a common crossref for replacments. 'Rated 60 amps' FWIW.

After much sleuthing, I figured it out. There was no pressed part number on the bottom of the square back, but there was a mostly illegible paper sticker on the side. Luckily, the previous owner handed over all the receipts. NAPA part number: 213011, which matches the sticker. 45-50 amps. Thanks for your help. Didn’t see the sticky.

I want to say it was in the 1990s when NAPA electrical parts were some of the best we could get from a parts store.
