I have a 1972 dodge dart swinger special and after a hard rain storm the driver side rear floor mat has standing water in it. I have no idea where the water is coming from.

Get some on inside with a flash light.

Get the garden hose on low and start low on the body

Go to every point of entry working your way up.

ALSO

Look under the car for body plugs missing or dislodged.
Brand new 2006 Dodge minivan would get water under the carpet after a carwash. Turned out to be a missing body plug.

Question...
Was car being driven when rainstorm happened?
Was car on slope when rainstorm happened? If so which direction?

Rust?

Windows / seals replaced?

no

yes in my driveway the front end was slightly higher

Rust?

Windows / seals replaced?
i have not replaced any seals

If it fills sitting still - check that the drains in the quarter panel bottom pinch weld are open and draining (key tool - old wire coat hanger)

If it fills while you drive - I had a 1975 Dart that rotted out around the rear outside seat belt bolt (which comes out in the rear wheel well. The action of the tire slinging water drove the water into the car and filled up the back floor...and the front floor if you drove it long enough!!!

Q "was car on slope when rainstorm happened? If so which direction?"

A "yes in my driveway the front end was slightly higher"

Try parking it nose down for the next rain storm.

But the 2 person and a hose trick will locate the leak much faster

If the car has a/c . Start the car , turn a/c on high. Close all the doors and windows! Get you a bucket of soapy water . Start washing the the vehicle. Where there is hole into the cab of the vehicle the soap will start blowing bubbles ! There will be your hole !!

I use baby powder and put a dusting around the outside of the window moldings then take an air hose on the inside of the car and blow around the edge of the glass.
One man operation and if there is a leak you'll know it real fast.
