I'm in the middle of putting the door glass back in and wanted to know if this outside section (arrow) of the rubber seal is supposed to rest on top of the door.
I've tried online searches for pictures, but of course all that comes up these days is useless ads.
Thanks for any help.

Mine sits inside the window frame, it was like that from the factory at some point some one my dad or the factory put some black sealer in the gap that results.

Does not seem logical for it to be that way, a place to catch and trap water, debris etc

Okay. Thanks. The reason I ask is because my car has been apart since 2012, but I don't remember a gap being between the vent window seal and door. I have the passenger side vent installed and there is a wide gap. Maybe I'll just do the silicone trick.

Pass side which may or may not have ever been out

Driver's side which I did have out and had to remove the sealer to get the vent window out off the door frame.

It's hard to see but the rubber does touch the inside of the door frame and makes a good seal.

Center in last pic is a key wedged between the rubber and the door frame creating slight gap that looks slightly lighter in color

I've taken several doors apart and never saw sealer or silicone in there. Just my opinion.
Also that gap could be due to the vent frame not being centered in the door?

Heres a pic from our 69. I gutted both the doors and reassembled them. I havent fine tuned it yet.

The plate below the vent is in its correct fixed location, and it cannot be moved to either side... and the adjustment bolt up front can only go up or down. There is no side-to side adjustment.

Heres pics/instructons from our 69 Plymouth FSM. The adjustment I'm talking about is the bolt at front bottom of door. "Fore and aft". I "think" this helps adjust the verticalness(I made a new word) of the chromed vent frame assembly?? Finnicky as fack to adjust doors and glass. IMO sealant would look like crap.

No problem, glad to help. There is some black "goop/sealant" in some spots, but none by the vent seal that I know of.
Lots of info in FSM. I can post more pics if need be.
4spdragtop, thanks for the pics and info!!!
I'll mess with it tomorrow and report back

My guess is my dad put the sealer there at some point, probably after the first paint job. It was for sure there for the second paint job as seen by the chips on removal

Heres a spare vent frame. There is only a few spots for adjustments. A tweak here and there on all of them may be necessary. The one I'm thinking may give you the "most" adjustment is the very bottom one where the anti rattle foam is?
You can see where there was some factory "goop/sealant" right where the perimeter door gasket mounted.(black remnants on chrome piece just above Rusty bolt)
