I just bought this 2000 Dakota back after selling it over 13 years ago. Thought some of you would like to see it, so here it is. It's a factory 4.7 V8, 5 speed, with a 3:55 9 1/4" LSD. I know it's a rare find and I'm glad to get it back. Thankfully it was kept very nice. Aside from the few body add-on's, it wasn't messed with, & was always kept in a temp. controlled garage. The best part, 49,000 original miles! I am a happy man.

I like It! I had a green one like yours, and I miss it terribly.

Lucky man. I love my Dakota but I miss my V8 in it. I have had three of them over the years. My favorite one was a 1995 with a 318 tow package. It was really a 1500 driver train in a small body. Great truck. at 318,000 miles the rust did it in. Got a 1996, V8 had it two months and it got totaled. Now I have a 1997 with the 3.9 V6. Super clean truck, the only reason I bought it. 225,000 miles. Runs great but I miss my V8. It's kind of a turd but it's clean. No one gives up a V8 Dakota!

That thing is a time machine, literally 1 in a million!!!

Yeh, the wing is not my cup of tea, but until I figure out how I can get rid of it, (probably the fender flares too) & keep the bed cover, it will stay.

Congratulations on landing your old ride, sharp looking truck! I would have a hard time keeping my foot off the gas, and hammering through the gears.

Beautiful truck! I had same year with "extend a cab" But only the V6. Sold it shortly after I bought it as I landed a job with company vehicle.
Have fun! Good on ya for keeping track of it. :steering:

If they are the factory flares, I'd be interested in them. Just saying. My son has a 00 R/T with some minor body damage. I have an 89 Shelby dak.

In industrial or hard personal use, the valve seats have a tendency to fall into the cylinders if neglected or run hard, on the 4.7 motor. That said, it's a great looking truck.

Dang that is very nice! I like them kota trucks especially one that clean! Whats the story on how you got it back after all them years? Did you know the guy that you sold it to or just happen across it?

All the positive comments from everyone is great. I am lucky to get such a very rare, well kept, low mileage truck back. Now to answer some of the questions. First they are aftermarket flares, but the fit is real good. Second I do know about the 4.7 down falls if run hard & not maintained properly (oil change every 3000 miles w/5w30) valve seats, overheating, etc. but I know for a fact it was taken care of all it's life, & that brings me to the third question asked. I sold the truck to a good friend who I've known for over 40 years, who bought it from me for his fathers 70th birthday,(I bought a new 2008 Dodge 2500 Cummins at the time I sold it) and this family are the kind of people you would want to buy a vehicle from, because they are always taken excellent care of, as you can see by the pictures. I've told my friend over the years, If your father EVER wants to sell the truck, I would like the first shot at getting it back, so now it's mine again. To ch1ll, yeah, I'm looking into removing the wing if I can, with out messing up the look of the Tonneau cover. I will find out by this weekend. Thanks to all for the comments, but I'd love it regardless of what others say, I know what I have & I'm pretty happy about it. I know it's not an A body, but I am still holding out to find one in nice condition at a good price. I have a thing for Dusters/Dart Sports, & I'll keep looking. Good ones are still out there.
