Got there about 9 am Saturday, right away, drove north all the way to Pontiac headed south and looked for a parking spot norrh of Duggans. Started walking, two miles North, 4 miles South and back again.

By 1 pm Saturday most of the true cruisers were parked. Hot weather, and stick shifts are difficult to manage bumper to bumper crawling between traffic lights.

If there was some way to enforce the Cruisers ONLY rule in the 2 curb lanes there would be a LOT more action. My buddy and I were trying to come up with a ratio and figured about 30:1 at 4 PM. We did this by counting cars stopped at red lights. One true Cruiser to 30 Tourists. Sad!

I started a game by looking away for 30 seconds then looked back. How many Jeeps could I see? Always at least 3 and NEVER zero. 4 door newer Unlimiteds and Gladiators by the hundreds. Pretty much every one with the doors removed. I got my first Jeep 28 years ago and it used to be something special to be a Jeep guy. Now it's the Soccer mom vehicle of choice and driving to the mall doorless is now the thing to do.

Having said that....it's still a happening. If you get there early.
Saw plates from TX, TN, FL and many others. None from Canada or Mexico.

borders closed

Yeah....that was a joke. Well, one border is closed anyway.

I think they should allow people to have paint guns.
Can you imagine people sitting in their chairs by the road shooting paint at the Kias, mini vans, Hondas,, and Toyotas clogging up the 2 cruising lanes? That should do it.

It's become a tourist attraction.

That's a shame, supposed to be for the cruisers. :(
I do like the paintball gun idea, might discourage some of the wannabes. :D

It's nice to see the new younger generation enjoying cruising. Some how even back in day it was the same way but I sure never complained about a 4 door filled with girls even today. And I sure would not call out the srt8 jeeps. And my daughter was out there in her hybrid jeep and I'll tell you that thing can fly. I enjoyed it a lot. Good times with friends and old cars and hellcats.

I live 15 minutes from Woodward and I cruise Woodward on Tuesday night, Wednesday night, and Thursday night. Tuesday and Wednesday I will go as far as 12 mile road then turn around and go north and head back towards Pontiac. Thursday I will go as far as 14 mile road then turn around and head north back towards Pontiac. I have learned my lesson never to go near Woodward on Friday or Saturday in the week of the dream cruise, it takes about 1 hour to go a half of a mile on those two days and in that half of a mile you might see 4 or 5 vintage cars. Going through Pontiac is just a joke on those two days, there are these groups of crazy people who block off the area and just do donuts in the middle of the street all traffic is stopped, this is in an area called wide track drive. The cruise is not what it used to be, I can remember a while ago the cruise was great, vintage cars all over the place both north and south up and down Woodward but not anymore. For those of you who wish you could attend the Woodward dream cruise be glad you can't, if you want to get a feel of todays Woodward dream cruise just go to your local car dealerships and look at all the new cars, that's what you see in todays Woodward dream cruise. By the way Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights the week of the dream cruise are great, there are more vintage cars out those nights, traffic moves along pretty good, and the spectators are sitting along the side of Woodward cheering for your cars.

You guys should've come to the Blarney Stone Friday and/or Saturday. The bar has been closed since the Covid shutdown, but the owners allowed us (the Twisted Axle Car Club) to use their parking lot.
