Reposting this because the other one disappeared. Friends 60' has slowed up and it's allover the place, and now so is his et. Usually 1.64 now it's 1.70il ish. No changes to the car and in some of the best weather we had year.
727 with turbo action rmvb w/o low band apply. Turbo cation 8" converter. Mph on the big end hasn't really changed much. Something on the trans? Converter messed up? Less then 100 passes on both

Maybe it's not the car......

Track was good. Tires have probably 20-30 passes on them. He didn't spin. I will also add the it just kept getting worse as the day went on.

Did the stall speed change, either way? Assume leaving off the footbrake. More rpm off starting line, but going slower?
If mph is consistent and good, weather is good, and tires are hooking, it sounds like it's not down on power. So, it sounds like something between engine and tires.

Making more power in good air and driving through the converter. Put more air in the tires to induce a little slip and see if wheel speed corrects it.

If it was progressively getting worse with more runs I'd atleast drop the trans pan and see what the oil looks like and if there's any junk in the bottom of the pan. I've broken a few convertors over the years. Typically 60fts will go away and car will become super inconsistent. The last 2 I broke were old systoms. Car was still running the # and 60's were fine with the one, but I'd be -.060 red than next pass be .070 green without changing a dang gum thing. After a few weeks coming up the return road it flared up real high when I was driving, right then I knew what the issue was. The last one I broke when I shifted 2nd it acted like I didn't shift, I aborted the pass. Dropped the pan and wasn't really anything of concern, but sent out convertor and the Stator was broke.

Sounds like convertor to me, i had that problem in the past, and the ET will just pick up or slow.

We though it was the converter but wanted some other opinions. Maybe have to put my spare one in and try. Big block and 2" tti's kinda suck.

It’s nice to have too much power isn’t it? Really I was just messing with ya. Let us know how a converter change effects it.

FyI my TA converter just ate itself up on the inside and sent metal shaving through the whole system

Well just changed the converter and dropped the pan. Nothing looked out of the ordinary in the pan. Put a new filter in and adjusted the bands. We'll find out next weekend what it does.

good luck. Converters can be one of the hardest things to diagnose. I had a sprag going bad in a powerglide converter and it would usually act up in the dog gone second or third round. I think that was a big reason I moved to a spragless converter.

I have been wondering about my PTC 9.5 converter. It is embarrassing on how long its been ignored and how old it is. I have made the car better a bit in all ways, but it has not equaled or bettered its best 60’ in years. 1.70 is the best ever, I can get a 1.73 out of it now. I just started logging slip through the run. At the bottom of top gear it is at 10.3% and drops to 3.9 % at the stripe. It flashes to 3300 rpm at the hit and starts to load the motor. The lack of improvement in the 60’ and another car just killing me in the 330 that doesn’t usually that much, makes me wonder. It’s been 10 years and 1000+ runs. The plan is a 904 so don’t want to put money it the 727 converter. The car performs fine, just would expect more pickup in the 60’
