Brake Flaring Tool....Best to Buy???

Here we go again with more tools in my shop. What brake flaring tool is best for the non-professional? I purchased the Amazon "red box" special with 25 ' of tubing and the tool is junk or I don't know how to use it. No instructions and I am relying on IN Line Tube videos for help.

Who make TLF products? They have a nice assortment. Pls tell me what I should buy for replacing old and rusty brake lines w/ 45 deg flares? Tube diameter is 3/16 in.

I would just get one from harbor freight if you're only going to use it every now and then. Make sure it's a double flaring tool. No need to spend a hundred bucks on one if you're not using it professionally.

I would rent or borrow one. I bought a fuel pressure test kit from HF because I needed it once. What a piece of crap. I should have taken it back but I tossed it away.
 
If doing brake lines you must double flare.
Mine is MAC but l have had it for probably 30 years.
I see them at swap meets and flea markets all the time. Just be sure the double flair inserts are included.
Keep in mind that " standard" brake lines are 45 degrees and AN fittings are 37 degrees in case you are using them as well.
 
I eould hit the pawnshops i three of variying quality/mfg's...really no difference in any of them.
The difference is how well you set it up and how good the tubing is.
JMHO.
 
Pawn shops are a good place for looking for tools. That’s where I got all my Cornwell and Snap-On like new condition.

i bought an otc bubble flair from summit. worked good. double flair set from autozone, worked good. my brother...hydraulic. works good.$$$$ but he doesnt have the patience for the manual ones.

I got an otc or something from auto zone when I redid all the lines on my 66 Sat.

Not sure of size, but I'll bet its metric. Was into that subject w/ a Good parts guy last week. Not the confused millennials....
