putting a 904 on a 340 block what size and lenght are the bolts i think there are 2 long ones and 4 shorter ones ? thanks

I don't remember. They are 3/8 n.c. for length, take a 99 cent harbor Commie plastic slide caliper, has a metal gauge that slides out the bottom. Works killer for measuring blind holes. Then add measurements for bell housing. Head to ace hardware, or your local fastener place of choice. Don't forget starter.

Don't go to Ace or any hardware store for Automotive fasteners. This is not a bookcase.
Autos use specific bolt types and are grade "5" for standard stuff and grade "8" for high stress stuff, like what you need. They have specific rolled threads and shoulders.
The proper parts are cheap and available through the Major Mopar parts suppliers. 904 because you don't have the A727 that all 340 engines were factory equipped with ? or what ?
They also used a pair of bracket braces mounted between the block and the trans bellhousing.
Starter bolt stud combo is not at your hardware store either.

I get grade 8 ( and 5) all day at the ace here. But yes, sometimes, you can't get the exact same bolt, ( like one of the bolts for my PS box, had to be modified for headers lol, actually stripped a factory one!)And Factory is ALWAYS better! I should have mentioned that. Thanks for the correction
