As it says. I’m a NWS volunteer spotter, our chat has some incredibly humbling pictures of this monster and it’s damage. Praying hard for the folks of Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Tennessee. And Illinois, which was hit by a separate pair of twisters overnight. Mayfield Kentucky is nearly wiped out, down to its foundations directly in the heart of town.

here’s the first, very early story on this thing. Lots to be confirmed but to put this in perspective. The largest , longest traveling and most states hit by a single tornado, stands as the tri-state twister of 1925. It was on the ground for 219 miles total between Missouri, Illinois and Indiana.

All early, unconfirmed indications are that today’s monster was on the ground for 227 miles... in Kentucky ALONE.

We have members pretty much in all of the affected areas. We need to all pray for their safety.

We undoubtedly do. I just know of only a couple personally. Hope everyone made it thru without any issues.

Tony and Kathy DeFeo are in Tennessee. I think they are right around the area that got hit. She was posting on Facebook last night about how hot it was and they knew they were gonna have tornadoes. I've not heard back from her this morning. I sent a message. Hopefully they're just asleep after bein up all night.

There’s a guy I can’t think of his name, that has a Mopar junkyard in Kentucky just on the northern edge of the highlighted damaged path.

It's not rare down here at all. That's usually when some of our worst weather happens.
I was speaking more so as the country as a whole. It’s very rare in most of Tornado alley to get a dec tornado.

now you all down there in Dixie Alley, different story has you’ve said

Yes it did start here in northeast Arkansas, that picture was taken by one of our storm spotters just 9 miles away in Bono Arkansas. It was a hair raising night. A nursing home was hit and many people trapped under a roof that fell in on them, one death there.
Yeah pretty scary to be that close to such a monster
at one time it was 3 miles away and on the ground
Prayers for all the families effected by this line of Tornadoes..

Thank you, it was a busy night of calling as I watched the track of these systems, my youngest son has debris in his yard that has addresses from 12 miles away from his house, the tornadoes you see in that picture was just 2 miles to his east.

Wow that’s crazy.

So I took Google Earth and plotted the currently known list of cities that reported damage from this alleged continuous monster. 286 miles . Again a very early and rough draft and I don’t have all the cities and locations but just a rough idea of the potential length of this thing

Praying for everyone that was affected by these storms. I know all too well from having a direct hit from an F-5 tornado April 8, 1998. I was so lucky that my daughter and I were buried in all the rubble of my house and not injured. It will be a long hard road ahead for all these people that were caught up in massive storm. Will continue praying for them, Joe

Unbelievable, terrible line of storms swept the heart of our nation last night and this morning.
One Tornado may have been on the ground for 200 miles?
God bless all those that were in harms way, particularly this children, during the Christmas season.
Joe

Crazy. Tornados in December?
I purchased My '64 GT 'vert on e-bay mtrs in late Nov. '07. I was going to have a carrier haul it, but they started at $400 & found $850 worth of excuses, I wasn't paying $1250 so.. While I planned to get it w/My retired truck driver next door, an approx 1160mi trip one way, I hurt My back at work. Car in El Reno OK, when DOZENS of tornados ripped thru OK repeatedly, central thru NE & up tornado alley. It was so bad I had to call on 4 different dates to check on My car. Wasn't cleared 'til early Mar by the Doc to make that trip, felt like an eternity. On the way out & down, We stopped over in Joplin, those Folks suffered a bad one later....
Prayers & strength to everybody affected by those monstrous storms.
