And made it well also!.
Heres the new style silicone bypass hose, I bought mine from the Dodge store.
Thank you.. I looked at the CVF racing set on line ($250) and said I can make that...

I think you may be out of real-estate with the AC pump, lower it down.

Giving some perspective here they're still 6 in gap. The engines covered but the 6-in ruler is coming down on top of that AC unit which is actually lower than the top of the carburetor without an air filter on it. Slightly in the background is the brake master cylinder and all of its way lower than that.. I'm pretty sure the hood doesn't slope down too much...

I’m really enjoying this thread. I think if you’re planning on using the old “bird bath” hood, they don’t slope at all.

Thank you.. I should get the air filter tomorrow and once that's on it should give a pretty clear perspective...
It does have an air gap intake but it's not super high especially for a truck...

Somehow I just like restoration but for whatever reason don't like all the labor involved... I guess it's just because most don't understand how vastly time-consuming it is and the need for motivation...

First clean and scrub the heck out of it after it's been removed initially and when I say removed initially that means taking absolutely everything out of it and removing it... Very time consuming...
After it's out cleaned and scrubbed treating the inside of it... Then putting it back in and mocking up everything you plan to put in it... Take it back out fill in the holes that you don't want to use and resend the whole thing down in 100 grit then in 220.. clean it.. primary it... Paint it... And then start all over again putting it back in and putting it back together...

A little more progress...
I ditched the Speedmaster wires as they were too long.. found some MSD wires I used to have on the Duster and cleaned them up...
Got the other belt in the mail today and a new air filter... Went ahead and installed the starter and found the right piece for the kickdown linkage..

And some more perspective on the AC pump height...

Nice work. It’s all coming out very good. I’d be able to make more progress if the rain stops. Been goin on 2 weeks now. Last week was freezing.

Yes a terrible lack of daylight and cold weather wet...
I just have a few more small parts to get restored and painted and I don't like doing it in the garage and getting all the dust and paint fumes in here.

I ignore chrome parts... LOL.
Believe it or not not a big huge Chrome fan but for whatever cursed reason I end up with a lot of it. I couldn't turn down the idea of having those NOS direct connection valve covers. Still in the box with all the grommets and the 1981 dealership postmarked on the box...
I drove up to Seattle to the members house who was selling them here on the parts for sale and he gave me one hell of a great deal on the 74 grill that was brand new nos as well...
Should I paint that black? LOL...

I think it's kind of funny how we've all gotten away from chrome whether it being too played out or just not a look that's desirable anymore but to be honest to have some of this chrome stuff back in 74 would have been really cool and now that I got the chrome valve covers it was like in for a diamond for a dollar I didn't think the black air filter would have looked nice..

I think chrome used to be a high end coating, but then it became so widely used on cheap junk that to me, it's just cheap looking. Plus, it's hard to polish and near impossible to repair if it gets even slightly damaged.. I hate it.

But NOS speed parts are cool, no matter what!

The worst fad since chrome though is to paint stuff black. Ugh. Same issues with upkeep, and there's no creativity to it. Every bro with long shorts and tall socks paints everything black on black on black...
Give me some color! Be creative! Hell, plating other than chrome can look good too. On a white truck, I'd be looking at some sort of blue or green or silver or maybe even a gray - I've never been a big fan of red. But that's just me...

I think you're going to like that carburetor. I have one on my Ford and really like it. It's not the plastic body, but basically the same otherwise.

Wow, just wow. Beautiful. Sure you can’t fit that in a sled?
