Entered and ran the 68 Barracuda in my first SCCA Autocross event this past Sunday.
The Autocross was at the Grissom Autoplex about an hour north of Indy.
Ran in the CAM T class. There were 99 cars total that ran in all the classes. Including me there were 9 CAM T cars.
I got six runs in, got a little quicker each time. Met a lot of nice folks and saw a lot of cool cars.
August 12,13,14 is a Tire Rack SCCA CAM Challenge. I was told some of the finest CAM cars from around the Midwest will be there. There is also a series of drivers clinics for newer Autocross drivers like me. I have signed up for both. Should be an interesting weekend.

That’s cool. It’s so nice to see people using their cars for what they were built for. Go have fun.

That looks like so much fun! I wish there was an Autocross event near me but there just isn't.

Awesome! They regularly do big events at Grissom. there's another club south of you in Columbus cscc-scca.org its been a while but they put on a decent event.

Thanks, I have only done one Autocross so I am no expert, but Grissom seems to ge a really nice facility for Autocross, space for a long track, plenty of run off room.

Old thread.....but......I ran my first autocross yesterday and ran a 69.9 first run and improved to a 60.947 by the end of run 8. There were instructors easily available at this event and I benefitted greatly from their ride along advice. Great bunch of people.

I also got to ride along with an instructor (Joey) in an 85 celica swapped with a lexus v8. Off the trailer without knowing the cones he ran a 53. Next run he ran a 50. I saw him dip into the 49s.

Visions of making my 34 plymouth coupe body something like that. Quick n dirty. maybe a pushrod front suspension.
