I am wondering if my trim is installed correctly. Looks to me like it could be installed either way. This is in a 1969 Barracuda fastback. Want to make sure it’s right before I install the stainless trim.

Looks proper to me. The rear most oval hole is for screw for stainless trim. Make sure the black textured piece is aligned/adjusted properly so both open holes are available.

Hmm, my recollection from my installation 2 years ago is that the smaller shiny black pieces fit OVER the large textured side panels.

I'm not saying I know about Barracudas but you may be on to something it looks "unfinished" like that at the top of the panels but I don't know what I'm looking at either is something missing?

Well, yeah there is something missing — the long stainless molding that goes all along this edge. I was assuming he hadn't installed that yet. It's a three layer cake — there is the huge side panel, then a whole host of shiny painted odd-shaped pieces the fill in around the glass and down beside the rear seat, and finally a very long L-shaped stainless molding to cover the overlap.

I am starting to remember the entire sequence. IIRC, the FIRST step is the two large side panels, because they drop down beside the floor panel on each side. THEN the cargo floor. THEN the painted trim pieces, which have to be carefully overlapped — it's best to just get a few screws into them to hold them in place, then adjust the fit before screwing them tight. LAST is the two L-shaped stainless pieces. Well, actually, the last things are the two hinge covers for the rear seat back once you get that in.

Anyway, you can tell which is the correct sequence of assembly by checking to see if the second panel covers up any of the screw heads on the first panel. If it does, then that's the right order, because if you tried the second piece first, you wouldn't be able to screw the other piece down — you would have blind holes.

Removed the side panel and raised up the trim. The trim is straight up. As I look at it now I think the side panel goes on first. Any other opinions?

The factory schematics leave alot to be desired.
I will check out Angel's post for help.

The big side panel needs to be in place before those trim pieces — see Cuda Ragtop's list.

Yes, I noticed cuda ragtop’s post, so now I know how to do it. Thanks for all the help guys.
