Replacement master for 68 dart. Does this keeper stay on or is it just for shipping? Looks like it is to hold the piston in the MC. The master still fits flush against the firewall so there is no interference there.

If it does stay, does it take the place of this style piston stop?

Trying to make sure I have everything needed for the install.

My uncle bought a dart that had no master cylinder or pushrod on the pedal so I purchased this replacement and a pushrod from doctor diff. But if I don’t need the other style stop and boot I won’t buy them.

Thanks in advance.

Keeper comes off and the other keeper you show goes on.

Hold pressure in on the piston so it doesn't pop out during g the switch over.

The boot is to keep dust and dirt out of the bore when you press the pedal

Are you willing to share where you found this? I searched with no luck.

The top one is from seller Steve Kirschenbaum. I've bought a few things from him. He and his brother Al have been neck deep in Mopars since the old days. Al worked at a Long Island Dodge dealership. He used to prep magazine cars before the writers tested them. Then he was an editor at Motor Trend and produced a lot of TV shows.

Al in a test way back when.

*Edit*
The Al Kirschenbaum that was in the TV business was a different guy.
