please press "0" or say "agent" to speak with representative

I would think a 73 Duster with a stock 340 and factory 340 cam would run out quite well on its own.

Not sure what your quest for more power is going to bring you? > so far a big headache and expence with no results.

How about speaking in good English in complete, unbroken sentences? I'm not the grammar police, but good GAWD, if you want help at least make it easy for us to know WTF you're saying, ok?

Never thought I could be more lost than before.. But this guy accomplished something.
What we've gathered is buying said kit and throwing it in did not net us any gain.. In fact, car runs worse. Have we Timed it? or adjusted carb? have we confirmed it's hitting on all 8 cylinders mechanically, have we checked ignition and fuel? or is said kit still in box just riding in passenger seat and we hope it makes engine faster via Bluetooth. Please advise

Ok, based on his reply, does anyone know any good tuning shops in the Chicago area?

Originaln poster, is Milwaukee too far away? Also, does the car run ok right now, as in, no overheating, no stalling?

Here's the info about the kit from Summit.

I'm no expert but lots of changes. Isn't that cam a little long on duration? Cam timing is important. Did the 73 340 have 2.02 valves? Asking for myself as well. Stock 73 340 is a low compression engine. Stock 73 340 didn't have a square bore carb did it?

A friend of mine bought a new 73 Dart 340 Sport manual trans. He put a lumpy cam in it soon after he got it and it sounded good, but it felt weaker than stock.

I'm not going to ask OP to check compression, but I'm betting a wiped lobe or three is in his future.

Sounds like a top end kit was put onto engine in unknown condition now its weaker then before? Now need to find a mechanic to hand car over to to figure out? What was state of engine before swap? No one knows.

You may have lost compression with thicker head gaskets. And low end power, toque with a larger cam.
Also rockers miss adjusted.

Dished pistons, larger cam, lifter pre load was set at what, what was compression before and after, was eng orig or rebuilt, was cam degreed in, what is dist curve, what is air fuel ratio reading etc etc etc....

Most mechanics shops around me would not touch that car unless you let them do a full tear down start over. They would not accept the job otherwise. And the so called better shops have 6-12 month waiting list or longer.

Gears.

More often than not... the big parts go in... and the rear gear and convertor stays the same.
More often than not...
The motor isn't properly tuned afterwards.

He did not state it was original 340 car. So may have a,stock 904 trans and converter and a 276 ish gear So the cam he added made it a slug.

yeah i'm sure that cam with a stock 73 340 bottom end is just a wonderful combination...

typical: let's throw all this hi-zoot stuff on the motor for the vroom-vrooms while having zero-point-zero understanding of how it's all supposed to work together.

when i worked at a dyno shop this was a very common occurrence, either by the owner doing shade tree work or even better, other shops! and it was always the same: oh, it just needs tuned.

no, my friend. ain't no amount of tuning gonna sort that out.

i got to be the bad news department a lot...

Yep a shop is gonna want to tear it all apart and address all deficiencies otherwise they won't accept the car. No way to know what all is mickey moused up otherwise. And there is a nation wide shortage of auto mechanics these days to boot.
