2bbl conversion for slant six

Ok so i have this 2bbl carb off a 360 and have always wanted to do a 2bbl ob my slant but didn't want to spend the money just wondering what has to be done to do the swap.
 
If it's that big mafungo lookin Holley 2 barrel, throw it in the garbage and use a Carter BBD.
 
so you've decided against a V8 swap at the moment?

carrying on... as hotrod swinger noted, you'll need a 2bbl intake and the proper linkage to operate the carb and kickdown for the transmission. the bouchillion kit is a nice piece and works well; it's a few bucks but well worth it to avoid the hassle of cobbling something together that half *** works.

the intake is a little more difficult. you'll either need to track one down and cough up the dough-- but they come up here fairly often. or... you could modify the existing manifold. here's one example from slantsix.org


and x2 on what RRR said on the stock 360 holley-- go with a carter BBD.

How are You planning on mounting it? It won't fit on a std. SuperSix intake, neither will the larger BBD, the 360 Holley would be the 2210/2245. Just get one off of a 318 pre-feedback style. Don't want to spend money on what? Just curious.......
 
You don't say what year your car is. If you're doing the swap in an early A, you'll need the gas pedal and cable from an early A V-8 car, or some other arrangement to go to a cable pull throttle too.

Pretty easy to get some more common pedals in there like an F/M/J body pedal, although you'll need to make a bracket out of steel plate to get it in the right place. Or if you want to keep pedals that swing from the floor, a lot of mid '90s BMW pedals might be adaptable.
 
The Super Six uses the same exhaust manifold as the one barrel setup, so there isn't a pressing need to make changes. Unless he wants to make improvements there too, of course.

That's true, it does. But there's still no way he'll get all the benefit from more carburetor without modifying the exhaust manifold or adding headers. It's just not gonna happen. I had a friend do this to mine and it works quite well.

on a stock slanty,
in the rpm range that most slantys work in, the two barrel is just bragging rights. It was and remains, an economy measure.

I ran it cuz I had it, on the stock exhaust manifold, with the stock pipe but with a straight-thru performance muffler, and
you'll be happy to know, that my 9.5 true Scr 225, lost no power. Also, it gained none and nothing not even mpgs.
Well, it seemed to idle a lil nicer, lol.

There's more to the exhaust system than just the manifold. It starts right at the valve, and ends at or near, the back bumper, and includes the cam-timing.
 
IIRC the Super Six package may have had another 1/4" of exhaust diameter but no other significant changes. An exhaust upgrade can be beneficial, but isn't mandatory when installing a Super Six. Although any changes to the manifolds will be easier when you have them off already, of course.

If you want a mild exhaust upgrade, the Dutra dual exhaust conversion (now sold by Aussiespeed) is a pretty good street option.
 
I really appreciate all the feed back i have officially decided to leave the slant alone and just save my money for my 360 magnum. Thank you all

Oh, no Magnum 360 still in the works just was trying to think of something to do in the meantime lol

On the pipe, some did, but not the manifold outlet. Which really makes no sense. Dutra Duals a good street option? Not for anyone on a budget. They are priced ridiculously high, plus now you have to pay shipping from down under. The US dealer rarely has them in stock.

save the money you'd spend on that and put it toward upgrades for the magnum or spend it on a rear end or suspension or dancing girls and cocaine.
 
I'll hop on and bring up an additional point of curiosity. Which air cleaner would clear the hood? The stock /6 air cleaner won't fit the BBD, and the 318 air cleaner is too large for an A/C setup. What are you guys doing in this scenario?

The Super Six air cleaner or something aftermarket.
