Has anyone had success finding a mini spare to fit 4" and or 4.5" x5 Bolt pattern wheels?

4.5'' mini spare out of late 80's Mopars such as Dodge Diplomat.
Put discs and a 7 1/4'' big bolt rear under a 63 Valiant. Worked for me.
They say Ford rear wheel drive cars too.

I got one from an older Jeep Cherokee, but have never used it. I'm saving it for the 69 Dart GT conv, since it's my wife's car and won't have big back tires, lol. Some of the older Lincoln Town Cars had aluminum space saver spares in them.
4" BP?

I found a spare from a Ford Edge. It is 4.5 bolt circle and the tire is 27 inches in diameter. It fit nicely in my B-body trunk well, I'm not sure about an A-body though. I did have to open up the center register a tad to fit over the axle stub.

I used a stock steel 14 x 4.5 steel wheel and a Coker Tire Firestone Radial F560 Tire 155R14

Sits flush in the spare tire wheel well, and is sub 100.00.

SOMETHING TO CONSIDER with a smaller OD spare... If you have a Sure-grip or other limited slip / locking rear, they don't like having 2 different size tires. If I get a rear flat, my plan is to remove a front tire and put the spare there, then put the front tire on the rear (in my case all 4 are the same size)

another option BUT probably not viable

85 ish Volvo 240 uses a 14" "donut" tire I don't know if the wheel is 5x4 or other but it's a 14" taller tire.

I also don't know if it would fit in the ID of the spare tire well

True. Not recommended on the rear.
In the last 10 years has anybody used a spare on their classic car ? I hear that many new cars don't even come with a spare.
In the last 30 years I have only used a spare on my trailer.

No and mine is probably flat but I would rather drive on a flat spare and destroy that then on a good tire with a nail in it.

I agree that with the advent of cell phones tow trucks are at the touch of a button but...

My daughter was driving her 2021 Jeep renegade on the interstate. She and several other cars hit a chunk of cement in the road.

She got out, changed her tire, and drove off, waving at the others still waiting on the side of the road for their tow trucks.

She was tickled.

"Call triple A then wait all day !"
I called AAA once (pre cell phones) and waited by my car. 45 minutes later I called again and they said the tow truck was there 20 minutes ago but I wasn't with my car.

I saw a tow truck drive through the parking lot but not near my car.

I changed my insurance the next day

Did you try European cars with a 5X100MM bolt circle? Volvo comes to mind. I believe that is close enough to 4 inches for a temporary spare, but you might get away with chamfering the lug holes a bit.

Sbp you could use a 13" wheel, stock steel or aftermarket mag, the mag might even fit disc brakes.

Metric wheels do not fit sbp at all.

I have the smallest 14" tire I could find on a sbp 5.5 wheel and it fits in the spare tire well.
Don't recall what size.

I just realized I switched to bbp on the rear, have sbp on the front, sbp spare, oops.
