WHO HAS THE TRUNK LID AND TAIL PANEL FOR MY 63 VALIANT? I NEED TO GET MY BABY BACK ON THE ROAD. BILLY
Welcome to the site, Billy. I wish you good luck finding your part. You did it right in that you placed the ad in the Parts Wanted section. There is a rule against placing you email or phone number in the ad itself. You really don't want that information floating around in the open. You should open the post back up ASAP and delete the phone number. The place to put phone numbers and Emails is in a PM (Personal Message). If you need help with doing a PM, read about it in the Website Help and FAQ forum.

Have rear panel. Would need cutting instrucrions. Shippable for a reasonable cost ? Have decklid but I see others are closer. PM if interested.

That tail panel looks easy to straighten, probably easier than replacing it.

Use a Port-a-Power. Put lumber across front of trunk(spread the load) & rig a way to push On the Crease, and move it slowly and hammer a little at a time, where needed. Very rewarding to fix if you've never done a repair like it.

Could also repair with a pin welder & slide hammer(a newer method). Also moving metal slowly.

Old time body men would fix much worse, but as labor rates went up the business changed to be a parts replacer instead of repair business.

Hardest part probably behind bumper. Trunk lid much harder repair, due to internal structure, but doable , especially with pin welder method. Easier to get another lid so you have it to test fit to be sure opening is the right width before paint.

Could also Port-a-Power across back of opening to spread it, & slowly hammer(and dolly)or slide hammer the crease & other low spots that develop. Port-a-Power will be in the way. Once again least pressure you can use to move the metal slowly.
Thank you, Woody. I think you are right on. Sometimes what looks like the easy way turns out to be the hard way. Have found many lids, but always far away. Thanks again.

Straighten panel a ways & then push on taillight opening before going too far & stretching it the wrong way. Brace crease when pushing on light doubler. Cutout 2 pieces of good plywood in the shape of the taillight, where flat, & machine screws & washers clear thru the mounting holes to keep it flat, maybe a little loose at first & tightening it as you straighten to flatten that area. Be creative & use what you have, shaped dollys or other shapes. I've used hard blue modeling Foam & carved a shape to push with. Balsa Wood might work as long as its not leaving work marks to fix. Ease the edges to not crease it. You'll get there slowly.

The crease in the back of the quarter is what worries me, but I have a friend that it won't faze.
It'll come out pushing & working each damage a little at a time. Support panel to right of damage w/longer pieces( inside & out w/clamps so panel doesn't move rearward against, bracing to wall or Tee shape wood screwed together and placed under tire and gusseted to push on. Once again, use whatever you have.

I understand you are trying to help , take it to DM

Your right. Sorry, it didn't occur to me snd I wondered why noone else chimed, too! Me Billy can DM me if more info needed. Or, better yet, he can start a thread about repairing it.
