IS IT TIME TO MAKE A NEW RANKING OF THE BEST GUITARISTS?

Funny how Pat Simmons from The Doobies is never mentioned in these “polls”, or Tom Johnston, who was a very good player as well. When they had Tiran Pprter on the bass, their harmonies were hard to beat, and all were top notch musicians.
What about Kim Simmons?

Lets not forget Buck Dharma from Blue Oyster Cult....totally under rated guitarist and band...
Tony Iommi and Sabbath are always playing in my garage and truck....

I don't think anyone has mentioned Kenny Wayne Shepard yet. He's also a Mopar guy. I got to see him live in Champaign Illinois at a small venue and he and his band were phenomenal. Also got to see Blackberry Smoke at the same theater as well and they also brought their A-game.

Is Mabels still open, gone or torn down?

I'm not sure about Mabels as my wife and I don't go to bars. We saw both acts at the Virginia Theatre. It's a very cool venue if you get the chance sometime and they seem to have some decent acts coming through there. Their ticket prices are very reasonable as well. I think Blackberry Smoke was about 40 a piece and KWS 45ish.

Thanks...We used to go to Mabels for concerts in the 80's. Saw a lot of good bands there. Foghat, Pat Travers, Steelheart. George Lynch. Ill have to check out the Virginia. We have been driving to The Arcada in St. Charles...The Virginia theater is close. Thanks
