Hey guys, This is the life long story of my first car: A 1970 dodge Dart. We won the widding bid on E-bay for 4,000. it was located in Georgia so we agreed to take a lookat it before we "oficially" bought it. While we were innspecting it we saw that it was very solid with no rust at all. it was originally owned by an elderly man. The man passed away and it was bought by a kid in a property auction. then the car was sold to the owner we bought it from. The car the whole time was a /6 car and the guy we bought it off was halfway in the process of converting it to a v8 car. So when we bought it it came with a rebiult 360, a brand new 727 tci, aluminum radiator, a 74 dart disc brake setup, and alot of extra parts. We next bought and installed a 8 3/4 posi rear, new brake lines, rebiult the whole front end and put the big bolt disc in, v8 tosion bars, polyurethane bushings all around, new leaf springs, and undercoated the car. Next we completed the construction of the 360 and painted it. (when we got it the guy seemed to have painted it construction orange or chevy orange) Then we dropped the tranny, cleaned and painted it, and bought a hurst shifter to go along with it. Presently we are prepping the car for paint. We have stripped the car of its doors, fenders, hood, trunk, interior, soon to be dash, carpet and windows. this weekend we will put por 15 on the floor. These pictures are both before and present. More soon to come!

Awesome looking car ya got there, love the color with those black steelies, Johnny Darts car has a twin brother:cheers:

thanks guys, today we took out the dash, front windshield, further prepped the floor, and some body work. its coming along.

im doing basically the same thing to our 67 'cuda race car. ive been painting and cleaning everything underneath the car. just so in the future, when i do get the body work done to take care of the chips, broken away quarters, and other little blemishes, or we respray the car, it will look beautiful no matter how you look at it...underneath, side, back, anywhere, it will look top notch.

good work, keep it up!

John

hey guys, jjr426 i really dont know what color i want to go. My dad has a 70 hemi duster and it was black he had it since 1982 and when i was first introduced to mopars the color that i instintaneously fell in love with was sublime green. So i suggested that my dad painted his duster sub lime and he said not a bad idea. it is currently sublime green and i am thinking about going with that color. i am thinking sublime with the flat black bumble bee stripe and the flat black factory 340 hood stripe. also i have a aluminum radiator and it is like flat or natural aluminum. is thier a away i can polish it to look like polished aluminum? thanks

Moparteen,

this is the first chance I have had to look at your build. You are doing some really nice work on it. Hope you can finish soon.

Jack

Man this project is looking good. I hope my car can look half as good or be half as clean lol. A sublime green dart would sure be unusual, I honestly can't say that I have seen a sublime green dart. That is a nice looking duster, love the hood :). Good luck with it!

that looks good!! A very straight body for $4,000! I paid $3,500 for mine and the body is not straight at all, whoever did body work in the past did not own or borrow a block sander.

But i do think that sublime green with flat black hood and stripe looks pretty good...
