im thinkin of gettin one. swappin out the 2.2 and droppin in a 318 or smogger 318 with the rear from my Dart. 7 1/4 rearend. Rampages were from wheel drive and probly about 2300 pounds so if i had about 200hp in on that would be fun as hel to drive. plus there small and most have bucket seats. certainly a good reason to give my S10 up. s10 for rampage project. maybe one running. they only made like 27000 thru there whole 82 83 and 84 model years. some were 5 speeds. but still fwd. a lil ricerish. but with a rwd v8. MMMMM. it would still burn tires even with my 2.76 gears

I have a 84 Rampage, and I would think you would have to put a full chassie under it to put the 318 in it. And from what I have read the 5 speeds only came in the 2.2 and the Calif. Shelby Rampage. And the only year for the CSR was 84. Mine has a lot of the options of the CSR, but haven't been able to prove it yet.

sweet. a whole new chassis! i have the technology. and you guys on here have the know how. lol. it would be bitchin though. a rampage as a daily driver wouldnt be bad either. they get like 35mpg with manuals

Had an 84 for a few years....Wish I still did...:sad6:

Great on gas and was unique to drive.......

In 1983 I had a Scamp GT. It was the plymouth version of the Rampage. It had a 2.2 with a 5 speed. It was grey and it had a fake hood scoop like the ones that were on the Charger 2.2's. Pretty handy and if i remember correctly, got around 35mph on the freeway.

I think what you really want is a D50. I've heard people V8ing them a bunch. I think I know where an orange one (with stripes) is for sale.....

I have a '83 Scamp GT and only about 1300 were made. The Scamps were a one year only unlike the Dodge Rampage.

They are neat cars. The guy down the street had a Scamp, just the plain version. I'm not sure where it went, it's been replaced with a p.o.s. Honda that never runs.
I agree though, you should look for a D50 if you want something light to dump a 318 in, it will be much easier. Every now and then a chassied 2.2 car pops up for sale.

yea. well id love to have a rampage but there not rear wheel drive. you can have fun in a fwd but you cant drift and do donuts. its just not the same. and theres a ram 50 in a junkyard right up from my house. might have to investigate!

Now you're talking my language! Back in highschool (wow 6 yrs now) we were in the SDAC (shelby dodge auto club) in michigan. We ran the 2.2 and 2.5 turbo dodges. I say KEEP the 2.2 and grab the wiring off a turbo II car, anything after '87 like a turbo lebaron, minivan, K-car, daytona, shadow. Get the wiring and the turbo/ exhaust manifold. Man, you guys have no idea how fun these little guys are and CHEAP as heck. I'm missing my lil 2.5 now working on this stinkin' 318. Good ol' 4-bangers. I had a '87 Shelby Z Daytona for $500. Go figure, first time at Miland drag stip I spun 2 rod bearings. Off to the bone yard to get a 2.5 from a minivan, a quick rebuild and shimmed to about 7.5:1 (yes thats right), bolted on my old turbo II head and manifolds and back at the strip again! What did the ol' ugly G-body run? Best first time out was 13.1 seconds on 225 50 R15 1/2 cooper cobra street tires. Thats with only a tick over 18psi of boost! Anyways, its just fun to think about that old car again, good times. . . . back to the money pit aka Dart.
You guys should check out TheDodgeGarge.com
Thats Gary Donivan's site. Hes got a couple old school Mopars (340 Dart and a nice 440 Charger) along with the most ugly '85 Plymouth Reliant you've ever seen, never mind that its got a 2.5 4banger AUTOMATIC trans under the hood . . . yea it runs 10.3's

I will regurgitate an old thread to show my 83 Rampage I cloned to a Scamp. She now sports the DC B&M blower and I will be putting the Shelby skirting on soon.
Don't mind the girl in the pic. :snakeman:

I've heard the Ram 50's are fairly easy to swap a small block into, especially if they have an automatic trans.I vaguely recall an article in Mopar Action many years ago about the swap which said that the autos in the D50's are Chrysler 904s with a four banger bellhousing which meant that a SB 904 trans was a direct bolt in as long as you locate the engine to suit the existing trans location.

Even a mild 318 would really haul one of those around, would be a fun ride.

Ha, thanks! I'll be taking it to Atco on Tuesday for our bi-annual rental.
The old motor and 4 speed ran a 17.5. :clock: :stop:

I don't have a rampage but you should see this little GLH go. I found this in a boneyard and had to have it . 1 7/8 tube header with a 3 1/2 exhaust , Race block 10-1 compression ., Forged crank, Ported race head, Special ground Compcams cam . Modified VW beatle MSD distributor. 6 AL Box piggybacked with a boost master. Methanol injection. 12 PSI.B&M Blower with a boost referenced 500 CFM Holley. With my duster you have to look behind you to see the smoke from the hoosiers. On this car it comes right by the side windows. And if you like the smell of Rubber just roll-em down.
