b body to a body 727

i dont think that the cases are any different although the tails could be longer for the bbody...
 
Nope you will be fine. i have a 727 out of a cbody in my 73 dart. so what kind of car are you building. best of luck mopar65
 
sb or bb 727 only need to know if sb or bb trans if you are running a sb you will need a sb 727 if running a bb you will need a bb 727 otherwise it will fit
 
Putting the 440 and 727 from my 73 charger into a 72 Dart Swinger. I'm sure I will have many questions.. Especially about changing out the six k member to a v8 member.

No need to change out the K-member. Just get some conversion mounts from some place like Schumacher.
 
All 727's made from 66 up used in cars are the same length. Only diff is BB or SB. The /6 to BB conversion mounts wish4hemi mentioned are a great way to do the swap. Saves a ton of work swapping out the K-frame.

Yes, if you don't already have a 727 in the dart you will need a shorter driveshaft and larger slip yoke. As mentioned earlier, the 727 needs to be from the same type engine as is in your car currently, big block, small block, or slant. If you are converting from a 904 you may also need the larger flexplate with the 11" bolt pattern.
 
So, if I take the drive shaft out of the Charger, it will have to be shortened? Also would like to use the 489 from the Charger. Then what's the differance between the 6 and 8 k-frame? Are they both as strong?
 
Use the shumacher conversion mounts. Both K frames are made the same thickness, no need to change. The charger driveshaft will likely be too long, although it will have the right yoke. The 489,742,and 741 carriers will all bolt into any 8-3/4" rear end housing.
 
Thanks for all the info. Another question. Will there be any problems with bolting the BB 727 in? I'm sure I'll have many more, as the build goes forward.
