Help!

thats kool, I dont care...These are real problems Im having.. First I was worried about the idle drop then while I was trying to fix that, this popping noise appeared.

Ok…. Allow me to be brutally honest.

After three threads and having several members drop out because of frustration…… Including myself……

You can not fix your car.

Call a tow truck. I will google one for your area if needed………

Have your car towed to a shop and tell them this……. "Fix it and call me when it's done."

This is the only way your car will run correctly.

what is good paying someone to work on my car? Then Ill never learn, just because you get upset because its hard to figure something out online is not my fault. If you were here in person, im pretty sure it would be alot eaiser.

Point being… You can't fix it.

Maybe we could find a member in your area that can come over and lend a hand. That would be best and give you a chance to see what is being done and ask questions.

I fixed the idle drop before, but when I got caught up with the pop and the water in the oil I stopped and went in another way.

ok i didnt bother reading some of the thread but from what I have read I see a bit of arguing going on ...which is no good guys...better to drop it lol....anyhow...in some cases yes you are better off paying to have it done but at the same time if your thirst for knowledge is great enough than you need to tackle things like that on your own and figure it out...and always take in what experienced people have to say before you say they are wrong or anything like that.

anyhow....from what I did read.... I would first say check to see if you have excess moisture coming from your tail pipe...also check to see if there is white smoke coming from your tail pipe ....some pretty good signs of a bad head gasket....also you may want to pull your spark plugs as alot of the time when there is a bad head gasket it will pretty much "steam clean" the inside of the cylinder that has the leak and you may be able to see a big difference in color range on a given spark plug and may be able to get a peak inside one of the holes at the cylinder.

also you should check your radiator...alot of times when there is an intake gasket leak...not only will you get coolant in your oil (milky texture) but you will get oil in your coolant and it normally floats to the top by the cap.

also another sign of a bad headgasket can be high pressure in the coolant system and bubbling over into the overflow jug and a "gassy smell in the coolant".

I honestly do not like using the copper spray tack stuff on gaskets..I think its junk and have watched gaskets fail when it has been used before (but that up to you). I am a firm believer in a good set of felpro gaskets.....I will normally lay down the side gaskets, the smear silicone on the rubber end gaskets (not a heavy amount) and I will put them in place. I then put a small glob of silicone in each corner of the vally to make sure there is a good seal.

as for the poping you mentioned...that COULD be due to coolant in the cylinder....also could be bad timing...could be junk carb or one that is not tuned in correctly, could be an exhaust leak that will hicup one and awhile...could be junk spark plugs or wires, could be something as simple as not running a hot enough octane gas.

one thing you will learn about working on vehicles is that there is not always a clear answer on the problem...you just have to dig in,ask questions and figure it out by trial and error alot of the time.

its hard for any of us to really say without being there hands on though.

anyhow...I hope that maybe something I have mentioned will help you figure out the problem with your ride and good luck!

well thank you! and for the octane one Im running 91 octane with 8.561 dynamic compression...is that ok? or should I run more? because I do have magnum heads which should allow me to use less octane. Everything I have read says 8.2-8.6 is ok for 91

I have some fuel vapor from the carb, but I figure that to be normal.. never steam out of spark plug hole.
I did a compression test and all the numbers were within 5-8 points of each other I believe they might have been all the same

I honestly think that would be best because we have been over and over this 3 or 4 times now and it doesn't seem your any closer to getting it running right. You can still learn what you want to learn also by watching and listening to a good mechanic. That's how I started learning to work on cars. Had an old Chevy with problems and an older experienced mechanic stopped by and helped me go through the problems. Learned a lot from that experience.

BTW: if you do get someone to help you, DON'T GET UNDER FEET. JUST STAND BACK AND WATCH!! LOL

If this is the 4th set and you are still having the same problem, I would look somewhere else ... possibly a head gasket.

no its the 4th set because ive gone through 2 camshafts and 1 because I didnt seal it correct and this number 4 because I didnt seal it right and I know because its leaking ontothe timing cover.

Im using the edlbrocks because their port matches the ports on my intake and my heads

Ok, then perhaps it's not a head gasket issue.
