This is all good stuff. Forgive that I don't keep tabs on the combo but offer suggestions. In my mind, the parts combo I thought you had were doing well making 575 with the small cam. In retrospect a high compression, ported aftermarket head 4xx" with a cam better than a flat tappet should make...

OK I didn't realize that. Yes, if he's gotta get his tuned-up, he should aim higher in stall. I'm not sure that'll get him into the 9's but I'd guess the weight being just over 2800? so if there's 575HP somewhere it can get there. If over 2900 then he might need more parts.

...in itself. Changing cams and their respective hardware is pricy in a few ways because the cam profile it'll like is probably going to 'tax' the rockers and pushrods....etc This is a 59* small block. I just mention it all for review to benefit what is practical for the owner given a new...

    Brakes for my drag car.

I was quoting a ?funny/famous? scene from the movie Joe Dirt. I maybe should have more fully typed; It's like the positraction on a Plymouth...it just works.

Nice work! Looking at the one video, the initial hit is still a touch soft. Try some accl pump cams and shooter tuning and you're there! After that, I'd almost leave things alone and hit it with some spray if you want to have more fun. It's proving to be a good combination

First fire-up of the duster this year.

    Looking good John!

    Brakes for my drag car.

This pic has caused much controversy in debating where to use the prop valve but, it works for me (like a positraction diff)

    Brakes for my drag car.

Run as much hard line as possible! Here is a pic showing how I ran a Tee to cross-over to the pass side. Then flex to the calipers from tabs on the frame. Make sure you avoid any binding or entangling over all movements when routing 'flex' lines.

Engine dyno or chassis? I use Wallace a bunch and think it's a reasonable predictor. Instead of sifting thru the older posts I was hoping he/someone could summarize the info. The best I saw was 104 in 660ft so, knowing he probably hasn't eeked all available MPH from it, that's promising...

Funny but this post never got set yesterday. When I logged-in it was still in the que so, I hit enter...looks like a few have mentioned the same points about video on the tach 'hillbilly data acq". But still I'd be interested to know the weight and MPH in consideration of the weather. I'd also...

Havent watched the vid but it might show 'fall-back' rpm? Yes I'd be curious to run the numbers thru something like Wallace to see where you're at. Weight on the line and MPH are a good start. Based on the little I know, I'd expect the engine parts would make less than 600HP.

Good work Boosted! I agree in what seems to be the theory/direction you are choosing going after the converter. No doubts the motor is making more power because the front half ISN'T there but the 660 ET/MPH is promising! While it might be interesting to know the current ICL, I'd probably leave...

**600hp sbm block limit? Or is it bs!!**

That's Scott "Dizuster"...he's using my old motor for NSS racing now. It was a magnum block and crank with good rods and good pistons. Blow-thru carb e85 and cnc eddy heads and custom hyd roller. Ran 9.55 @ at least 3750lbs. but it was being leaned-on to get there 22-24? pounds and it hurt...

    Cam change?

Right? But even the HS that were commonly used back in the day on that cam were close to 1.54RR (which yielded closer to 1.5 in NET) and they worked decent with the Isky 8005. But we all see the actual ratios vary significantly on different rockers. But all these reasons show the OP how this...

    Cam change?

That might be difficult to find a spring that'll control everything without wiping the cam.

For those areas you could try a strip of metal as filler if it's easier to 'repair'. 1/16 is pretty standard because you can cleko pin/fit the sheet metal.

    NEEDS a beadlock conversion, IDK.

    Cam change?

Before you take the old one out, record it's icl and cranking compression. New cam should be an improvement because you still have a small head on big cid. Measure the p2v on the intake at 104 and the exhaust with the icl at 108. I'd probably put it around 105 to start. I'd be curious to know...

    W5 heads

So Mullen cast the head too? (I said 'some portion') Also, back around 1992 I was paging thru some old pics at Koffel's and saw a big block head with unique ports and chamber which was designated with a "W" moniker...e.g.-Weslake. The engineering team at Mopar was one of, if not the first to...

Small Block and Big Block Damper Question

Yes you can. Depending on the damper and where you decide to put your timing marker and required depth. Yes it is indexed differently but there is no phasing in a neutral balance balancer.
