    360 vs 383

He often writes and asserts convoluted ideas and what he thinks are facts. He is a keyboard warrior and thinks he knows what he’s talking about. The only person I put on ignore multiple times because I get tired of his ridiculous idiotic statements. I could spend all day correcting him over and...

    360 vs 383

Holy crap!!!!!!!!! Built similar but held back. What a crock of ****! I’m freaking believable. What a pile! Back on ignore. The only one ever to make the grade out of stupidity & consistently consistent with it.

    360 vs 383

I think the 383 has the goods over the 360 to be a more powerful engine and a better street or strip performer. Weight of the power plant is of some concern if the OE must be retained. Once the OE heavy iron is dumped for the aftermarket performance parts, it’s the big block. What would 225lbs...

    360 vs 383

    WOW! Both cars are heavy!
  6. rumblefish360

    Rear end

The spine count change on the axles. There is a slight difference in the ring gear to allow anti spin/anti lock. They are swapable from what I understand. This is worth checking into. Raise the rear end of the car with jack stand under each side suspending both wheels like I said early and...

    2.76 vs 2.94 gearing

The difference? Slightly less acceleration and slightly more mileage. That’s it. If you cruise the car, you’ll like the 2.76 better. I had that ratio, the 2.76, in my ‘79 Magnum w/a 360/904 on 26” tires and I was able to get up to 20 mpg’s. No headers, dual exhaust off of the exhaust manifolds...

Is this a option? Take the guys out of the Jeep rear and use it in the one you have?

    360 vs 383

Having driven both big and small block Dusters & Magnums, I think the weight difference is not a huge thing but noticeable. Once I “Aluminumized” the engines, there’s nothing to complain about.

Very knowledgeable and a stand up fella in this hobby life style. No bullshit and a straight shooter.

    Rear end

Put the rear of the car on jack stands. Check the rear ends bolts for a metal tag that will state the ratio within. If it is not there, continue with the following. Chock the front tires, then the trans in neutral. Rotate the rear tires and count the driveshafts revolutions. This will come up...

New Mancini Timing Cover Fitment Issue

Sorry, MM is a strange thing to me. Send this, your post if not a link to the post message to Mancini racing. The pictures may hasten the process.

    Headers

Even though the pictures suggest they are and the part numbers are only 1 digit different, a call to summit to confirm would be the best move. Hammer that 1-800 number! The bottom ones (uncoated) I currently have on my 340 Duster. I’ve used them on my ‘73 Cúda and my ‘79 Magnum.

    Belt guidance

AJ & AbodyJoe nailed it. You’ll just have to measure it up with a string/rope or cut up belt. That’s what I had to do with my mixed bag of crap. Also custom cut spacers.

    360 Cam suggestions

Oh I like that. Nice, very nice set up. I like the 4.10’s a/a 28” tire. Below is an old NOS Crane cam I picked up from FABO a while back that’s getting set into action. I’d have suggest this, but Crane is gone and the cam can only be copied. This works well in a hot rod street car. IMO, it’s...

    Pistons

Hey Dan. I’ve built several 360’s using the KB-107. I have also used the SpeedPro pistons. They also need a specific ring end gap and following the KB instructions will suite any hyper piston. If the gap isn’t enough, the rings touch and press against each other applying pressure to the piston...

    360 Cam suggestions

...you. I would suggest a call to Howard’s cams and ask for a high lift HFT to work with your combination. I myself would yield at a duration of 236*’s @.050, have it ground on a 108 LSA, get as much lift as possible and that the head flows, if possible. I stated 236*’s @.050, but a lot of...

    360 Cam suggestions

Welcome aboard! Oh there’s a can of worms!!!! How far down the hole are the pistons and what head gasket thickness are you using? Means nothing Sorry to read this. Spring upgrade for a good cam. Headers? What tube size? What size tires? Do you want to run a HFT? SFT? Roller? Proceed to...

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

The main stream thinking of the time was for the 360 to use a bigger crank journal for use in the trucks as a bigger heavy duty main would handle more stress under the work load of heavy hauling. While this was largely proven wrong years later, that’s the way they thought back then. FWIW, the...
