    Low Mount Alternator Install Options

I don't make pulleys. I don't have that kind of equipment and neither do my regular vendors. I used to have Doty make some pulleys for me, but Doty is super busy with his main business so the performance stuff gets pushed to the side

Scat Pack 4 piston Brembo calipers and rotors

I've used stock hubs as well as hubs from Baer and Doctor Diff. I've also had custom hubs made. Just all depends on the circumstances. The Mercedes rotors were modified slightly to fit on a 5 on 4.5 BC hub.

340 Oil Priming Question First Start

If you have an extra cam on hand you can see where the oil holes are and figure out where the crankshaft needs to be to oil the top end. All cams should be drilled the same way since I'm sure it is part of the spec. On a big block one side oils when the crank is TDC split overlap. The other...

    Low Mount Alternator Install Options

Talk to Rob at Mancini Racing. If Doty isn't making the lower pulley anymore then Mancini can find a vendor to make it. Mancini sells a lot of those kits. There are a lot of vendors who make shallow pulleys but none of them have a Mopar pattern on them. It isn't difficult to put the Mopar...

EFI considerations for a 1970 383 with very mid cam

I've never seen an issue with that. I've had a Sniper in my car for 8 years now and I've installed dozens of Snipers on other cars. Maybe there is a capacitor on the input line that provides a little bit of "smoothing" so the ECU sees enough voltage to stay turned on.

EFI considerations for a 1970 383 with very mid cam

On an old Mopar it is much more difficult than just 4 wires to hook up. Anyone who is thinking of buying a Sniper should spend a few hours reading the Sniper forum on the Holley website. The Sniper is a great product, but they are difficult to install for a lot of people. People who can't figure...

    [WANTED] Leaf spring hanger stud

AMK makes them. I used to buy 1000 at a time when I was making spring hangers.

EFI considerations for a 1970 383 with very mid cam

The MSD 6AL will work fine with a Sniper and so will the coil that you are using. The MSD distributor won't work so send it to the swap meet and budget for a Hyperspark distributor.

New Mancini Timing Cover Fitment Issue

Why not use a billet cover that has o-rings for seals?

EFI considerations for a 1970 383 with very mid cam

The Sniper is probably your best bet. They have a lot of support and they generally work pretty well but they aren't perfect. I highly recommend buying from Summit rather than direct from Holley. Summit will exchange the Sniper if there is a problem but Holley won't. I also highly recommend a...

    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

Pulling timing in high gear or adding timing in high gear has been a debate for many, many years. The answer is "do what the car wants". There is some good theory behind both and it has to do with the fuel curve of the carb. Adding or pulling timing is often a crutch to fix a fuel curve issue...

    Lean idle. Rich cruise.

That thread was 2016 and I switched to EFI in 2017. Holley made a ton of changes to the emulsion circuits of the newer carbs but never explained it. It wasn't just Holley though since other carb vendors like QF did the same thing. Even the tuners like Braswell made big changes. I never did find...

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

And what happened to the tooling for the 340 resto block? If Mopar didn't want to make the blocks anymore why didn't they sell the tooling to someone like Dart? Or ship it to China and let ProCopyCat make them?

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

I did a 427 inch SB a few years back using a Mopar 340 resto block. That was a nice block, kind of heavy and had a few weird things going on, but seemed like a really nice casting. My spreadsheet says I paid $1457 for the block. Probably spent another $1000 in machine shop time fixing stuff. It...

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

I had a really nice 340 block for sale a few years back coupled with a set of new in the box W2 heads. Actually took me a while to sell that stuff and I wasn't asking super high prices. As many of you know I design, make and sell parts for big blocks and small blocks. Big block stuff outsells...

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

Two redesigns if you count the Magnum and the 5.7 as redesigns. Maybe three redesigns if you consider the W2 heads and the 48 degree blocks as a redesign.

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

Aftermarket 340 blocks would cost around $4000 and they would probably still have the stupid lifters pointed sideways rather than at the rocker arm. The SB needs a redesign if it is going to worth tooling and I really doubt anyone is willing to invest that much money into the SB Mopar market...

I Need Engine Experts! 340 Roller Lifter and Pushrod Issue

Are you using checking springs or the actual valve springs? If you are using valve springs then you are probably compressing the plunger in the lifter. The SB Mopar has a stupid lifter angle design that does cause some loss of lift, but it doesn't cause that much loss so you have another...

Trickflow Power Port 270 on a B block question.

I have a bunch of short dyno videos of the various 470 Trick Flow combinations that I tested on my YouTube page: They are not fancy dyno test videos since I'm not set up with multiple cameras and editing software, they are just short videos shot with a phone while we were testing.

400/426 Stroker. Ever heard of one?

Nothing wrong with the idea if you can get the work done for a reasonable price. We used to offset grind cranks back in the 90's but it hasn't been economical for us for many years. These days we build a lot of 470 low decks and 505 RB engines. The parts are economical, the engines go together...

400/426 Stroker. Ever heard of one?

So what was the original reasoning behind offset grinding a factory crank? Do you have a buddy with a crank grinder? Offset grinding used to be the only way to build Mopar strokers but we stopped doing it roughly 20 years ago because it was more expensive than just buying a new crank. There used...

Trickflow Power Port 270 on a B block question.

For a low deck the only option is Indy. For an RB engine you have more choices. Edelbrock, Trick Flow and Indy all have MW single 4bbl intakes. There are also cross rams, bath tub rams and tunnel rams available.

Trickflow Power Port 270 on a B block question.

M1 4500 intake requires a lot of welding to make power on 270 heads. A lot of welding. Figure at least $2000 to have a pro cut the intake apart, add material and weld it all back together. Much less expensive to just buy an Indy intake and have it port matched.

    18" Wheel help

Nobody has ever stepped up to the plate with Mopar specific wheels so what you are asking for isn't going to happen. If you want big, late model wheels on a Mopar muscle car you have to work the angles that people in this thread are telling you about. You can do a square setup with 17x8 Mustang...

    18" Wheel help

If you have a set of wheels that you really, really want then the thing to do is to buy them. And then you can make the car fit the wheels. The rear end housing can be narrowed to tuck the wheels just where you want them and up front you can build a custom hub to move things around. I used to...

    18" Wheel help

It can be really difficult to find killer wheels for muscle car Mopars because of the bolt pattern, offset and bore size requirements. Ford did their fans a big favor by designing a bunch of custom rims that were perfect factory fits but Mopar never did that. I had custom Fikse rims built for...

    Clear float bowl plugs

I like the glass ports that everyone switched over to about 20 years ago. The old school stuff was always a hassle. I haven't tuned an old school carb in so many years I'd probably have a panic attack if I saw one! Everything we see on the dyno these days is brand new XP carbs or sometimes a QF...

    Auto-X / Roadrace rear suspension 1969 Valiant

Yeah, projects like that often go sideways. They are just so much work that it is hard to find someone who will take it on and do the job correctly without charging a fortune. I work with a local chassis shop who is fast and cheap but sometimes he takes shortcuts that I don't like. But, there...

Machinist will not build engine unless roller cam is used!

We highly recommend hyd rollers for all street performance engines. Flat tappet failures have been very common over the last 10 years due to a combination of changes to oil as well as the loss of Johnson lifters. Once Johnson went away the lifter market was taken over by low quality offshore...

    Headers vs. Manifolds

Yeah, you can find someone on here saying most anything. Back in the days when I was making engine dollies I had a guy on the forum tell me that he didn't need to buy an engine dolly since he just went to the grocery store and stole a shopping cart when he needed a dolly. So that is the level of...
