Best Electronic Ignition Setup for a 273

Tons of ways to make this work. Mopar, Points (nothing wrong with them) Petronixs (need a points dist) Mopar elect, older the better the new orange boxes are junk and the kits are made overseas "authorised" Mopar. Biggest thing is having a proper curve for your motor. Just say you get a RA...

Steve - how hot did it get??? it's possible that you have air trapped in the block that just isn't making its way out. can you see the water circulating in the radiator? While it's cold you might crack the two block drains for a bit and then pour the coolant back in the radiator.

Lol, i agree Mike. He's one of a few on ignore, it's a beauty feature, but once in a while I'll "unignore" for entertainment value. Shows his true colors(not 1st time) right there.

    904? 46RH? 727? Opinions?

Since you have 4 wheel drive I would just put another 46RH in it. Spend your $500 and rebuild it some some quality clutches. It should live fine and you won't have to reinvent the wheel trying to get something else to fit. Tom

    904? 46RH? 727? Opinions?

Who built the 46RH? They can handle a lot more that 300 HP when built correctly... Even bone stock they would handle 300 HP for a heck of a lot longer than 15 miles.... Find a better builder & keep the 46 RH....

    Ailing engine

This 340 was pulled out for a swap only because of blowby - out the breather in valve cover , no exhaust smoke , did not run poorly - just puffin' out the breather. It was a fogger. 2 weak compression cylinders , and a unhappy # 5 piston. Broken rings in every cylinder.

Thinking of switching from M1 single plane to LD340 but LD340 would need to be milled to fit. Is it worth it?

    Hood clearance Question

Put the engine in the car with the intake and the carb with a paper gasket, and your air cleaner and then measure the clearance using a wad of putty, then figure out what will fit under the carb. None of this stuff is precision built to start with and your car and K-frame are now 50+ years old...

    Overheating on run stand

No it's not. He doesn't have enough timing. That's probably THE biggest mistake made when breaking in an engine. With timing too far retarded, the mixture is igniting too late and still burning coming out of the exhaust. That will heat the engine up real quick. It's also very apparent on a new...

    Sanden A/C Compressor to fit a 273

The Classic Auto Air brackets come from Bouchilon (BPE) so don't pay CAA's mark up. (my brackets had Bouchilon printed right on the bracket). If you are using factory AC pulleys DON'T use the Classic Air/Bouchilon brackets that put the AC compressor and the Alternator on the same belts. The...

Rotor for my SSBC A1531 conversion

I have had the SSBC 153 kit on my 70 Dart since 2005. One of the big reasons that I used it is it is designed to be used with stock 10 inch drum brake spindles so I didn't have to touch the spindles and beyond when I converted the brakes to disc. If that's what you need there are loads on...

    Vapor lock- additive?

I have beeb using Driven's Carb Defender to deal with other ethanol issues for many years. (Summit, Jegs, Amazon) Solved the carb corrosion issues. Ethanol attracts and bonds to water in the air and in your fuel. My understanding is that the ethanol actually evaporates less readily than the...

    Vapor lock- additive?

Well most of us are running mechanical pumps… And mechanical pumps are usually worse off in this metric since they put way more heat into the fuel than an electric pump. But to be honest I don’t think it’s a big problem either way. If you have an intake with the exhaust crossover blocked and...
