[FOR SALE] 1965 commando barracuda part out

Avaustin is correct in principle but if the suregrip is weak it may still rotate in the forward direction off the ground but not under load. This is why you leave one wheel on the ground. If it's holding you won't be able to turn the raised wheel. I think both parties would like to know...

[FOR SALE] 1965 commando barracuda part out

You forgot to mention to put the trans in neutral. Also this method doesn't allow you to know if the suregrip is working ? With one wheel on the ground in neutral you won't be able to rotate, thus you know it's working the way it should at least for now.

[FOR SALE] 1965 commando barracuda part out

Jack up off the ground one rear wheel. With the trans in neutral you shouldn't be able to rotate the raised wheel. This is IF, it indeed is a suregrip

Where can I find an overflow cap?

Maybe try covering the opening with a thin piece of cloth, maybe something like an old cotton handkerchief grandad used to have. Then screw on your cap and trim the excess off. Should tighten up enough until you find the correct lid.

    Overheating on run stand

Steve I'm not suggesting that the fan is the sole problem here but first off you need to re-create the scenario of driving at say 60mph at roughly 3,000 rpm. You need lots of air flow. The rad your using maybe adequate as well. Again just my 2 cents. Good luck

    Overheating on run stand

Place a large box fan on high speed directly in front of the radiator to simulate driving down the road. The smallish fan in the video is at an angle and not only too small but only used for a short period. The fan blade on the water pump is only sufficient at idle speed when stopped. Just my...

Very unusual 1968 GT rad support stamp

Yes as far as I know 68 doesn't have the vin # but the S.O.# stamped in several places including the rad support. And as well you could only get a 340 in a GTS in the dodge line up

    340 Block Numbers

So the first number 9 is the year 1969 model B represents Hamtramck assembly plant The last six digits are the numerical sequence on the assembly line. Whether it was a dart or Cuda I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell. Maybe someone else can help you there.

    340 Block Numbers

The Vin number just above the oil pan on the pass side might be a complete 13 digit or a partial Vin number. This number could help figure out exactly what vehicle your engine came out of. 1969 340's were only in darts and cudas but depending on the casting date could have found there way into...
