Slant 6 timing help- Torqstorm and Sniper EFI

So I watched some videos on timing lights and checked. Put some white paint on the harmonic balancer on either side of the mark. The marker on the engine only shows up to 10 degrees before or after TDC, but from an estimation it looks like my current timing is about 30 degrees after TDC. I...

    408 ignition curver advice

Two 850’s aren’t too big for a 408. I’m still surprised that people still believe the decades wrong carb sizing nonsense.

But it could if you worked on it! LOL I just want you to start driving to some shows and such. They are just a burden when they are in a million parts.

Small block headers: worst to best fitting. List your experience.

No, you didn’t have a set of 5303 Hookers. You had the 5204 header which is a street header. I never had a set of them that didn’t fit and fit well.

    318LA build

Hello all and happy memorial day, I have a 318 LA engine that I'm rebuilding, it ran fine but leaked everywhere. I'm using flat top pistons and the stock heads so my question is how big of a cam can I put in this with the stock heads? I'm aware I'll have to change the valve springs which I was...

another temp gauge/fuel gauge/voltage regulator thread

Just a simple temporary work around to take the temp gauge out of the equation. Remove the plug from the sending unit on the intake manifold. Clamp your test light ground clamp to + positive battery, them touch the pointed end of the test light to the temp sending unit. The test light...

Small block headers: worst to best fitting. List your experience.

Because there is a HUGE difference in the fit of a set of 1200 dollar headers compared to a set of 500 dollar headers. A good race header isn’t the same as a street header. You are talking right out of your hat.

    MoPar A bodies in Peril

Ah, sometimes the stories are what makes the hobby interesting! A shop full of cars under covers makes for some good tales. Tim had the Dart on the chassis dyno up at Keystone Raceway before we pulled that slant out. I think it mustered 75 hp.

Small block headers: worst to best fitting. List your experience.

The 5303 had the #1 tube go straight down thru the "Y" gap in the k-frame, then went under the k and steering gear. Was first header I bought for the Dart from the Mopar Parts counter, kept warranty too. Was one of the first 3 things the Hustle Catalog suggested for improvement.

    How does this look?

That plug looks like it’s got more than plenty timing on it. I’d fix that first. It’s a touch rich at idle and probably transition and cruise. Can’t see WOT. Are you running a vacuum advance and what is your timing now?

Small block headers: worst to best fitting. List your experience.

Why should there be a difference? I’d never deal with a company that says ohhh sorry if you want ones that fit you have to pay more. Otherwise you’re stuck with our crappy fitting, linkage must travel through, hard as heck to install, guaranteed to rust, will totally melt your spark plug wire...

    408 ignition curver advice

This 408 is running ported W2s flowing 297 @ .650 and 1 7/8 TTi headers . I have run my 800 AVS on it and found it had a bit more low end but worse everywhere else . I could set up a 650 DP for running around town and use the 850 if and when I go to the track I guess .

What is the best replacement steering coupler?

Might be a cheap aftermarket spring then? See if you can get your hands on a good original one. They shouldn’t really wear out in my opinion.

1970 Duster brake master cylinder removal?

Leave the m/c off the studs, pull on the pedal that's now near the floor, it'll pop the rod outta the m/c. Don't pull too far, cuz it'll hit the brake lite switch and knock it outta adjustment . That's one way.

93 octane no additives, NGK heat range 5, for a 5.9 magnum.

    5.9 magnum and the ax15

Oh, they fit just fine. The 143t (11") flywheel was used on most all manual small block trucks- from A motors to LAs to Magnums. Only a few V6 Dakotas with the NV2500 used variations on the 10/10.5 flywheel.
  28. D

    5.9 magnum and the ax15

Pretty much just turning down the flywheel so the flexplate fits over it. The weights look like a more reasonable idea. I often get sucked into to doing everything off of junked car parts
