Timing sprocket gear loose against cam key.

Good lord tell me about it. A friend of mine bought a radio for his truck off of Amazon some brand I've never heard of obviously from China and the instructions in English are absolutely non-comprehensible it's beyond ridiculous.

Timing sprocket gear loose against cam key.

It's an Enginetech, with a Cloyes part number. Crazy thing with almost everything coming out of China, how can we know if the parts come out of the same bin and just get thrown into whichever box that some company pays them to toss it into, Cloyes, Enginetech, Melling etc.

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

No there's two the other one near the bottom of the picture just blends in well with the pitted areas.

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

If I block the crossovers and use an electric choke would I need the pan still? edit; but I'm going to try and get those rivets out as you guys mentioned above we'll see how it goes.

Timing sprocket gear loose against cam key.

It's sloppy on the key only. I've got it installed, for the time being. Strangely after tightening the cam eccentric and cam bolt the play is gone. But regardless I'm going to order a new timing chain and gear set. I'm just going to use the current setup to get the Pistons and rods assembled and...

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

I think I have a valley pan kicking around somewhere. If I do break the rivets could I just leave it off and use the valley pan instead of the manifold shield?

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

I just got back from a local u blast place to clean up some parts one of which was this cast iron intake. I know some media got in behind the shield, I suppose I could pry one end open and blast the other side with air, but I'd still be worried about some sand/glass that may still be under it...

Timing sprocket gear loose against cam key.

Yeah I 100% agree with you unfortunately this timing chain set came with an engine rebuild kit off of eBay the Pistons and bearings and everything already installed so I'm not going to take all that apart to send everything back so I'm kind of screwed that way.

Timing sprocket gear loose against cam key.

So I'm installing my new timing chain and gears and the cam sprocket is loose and has play against the cam key so I thought maybe the key was too small I took off my old timing chain gear and it fits snug on the cam and key well as a tiny tiny bit of play but nothing like the new one? Should I...

Help me find the umph in my 360

Thanks. The reason I was asking is I'm building my short block right now. I was curious why my 360 had no oil slinger/shield but my 340 did.

Help me find the umph in my 360

Why were the "oil shields" not installed on engines with the drip tray? Did the crank seal not need any protection if the drip tray was used?

    connecting rod help

It seems that a lot of people have 645 floating rods, that have no recollection or knowledge of them being converted from press fit to floating. It could be possible that Chrysler used the same rods but used floating pins in these rods for certain applications?

    connecting rod help

Old post. I know. But I have three sets of 3418645 connecting rods, two sets are pressed fit and one is floating? Maybe the floating rods were originally press fit and changed to floating rods at some point??

Timing chain cover and head bolt questions

I should have done a search, but all honesty I thought I was so mistaken. I figured I was looking at it wrong or hitting it wrong or something. I did do a search on rockauto for front crank seal then checked years available, it was all over the place from as far back as 1955 to 1991 so I made...

Timing chain cover and head bolt questions

Thanks for the last bit about the drip guide, no need for a slinger or bolt with a hole. I did notice the top left hole still has a passage way through to the inner block. That was the reason for curiosity.

Timing chain cover and head bolt questions

Ok that may be the issue, the first one I believe was a newer style it's stamped "hencho mexico". I'll try prying the other ones from the rear.

Timing chain cover and head bolt questions

The top one is the one with the ruined water pump threads. I was trying to knock out the seal from the dirty one, the same way I knocked out the cleaner (ruined) one. I knocked it out from behind and it came out no problem. It looks as though the other one is different (smaller). I cleaned it...

Ok it's an 89 or 90 la roller, if that makes any difference?

Timing chain cover and head bolt questions

Ok it's been quite sometime since I've put together an engine. (Over 20 years) First the camshaft plate under the timing cover. Mine has no slinger that I can find and 3 bolt holes, none of the three bolts have a hole for oil? It does however have a small drip piece. Also did Chrysler...

    Will these pushrods work?

Thanks I appreciate it. I should be getting the heads back from the machine shop this week. I'll let you know as I may need shorter pushrods, as there has been a lot of changes from the factory setup. Like older style (1974) heads, the rocker spring seats have been machined (I believe .020) and...

    Will these pushrods work?

Ok that makes sense. I'll have a look see.

    Will these pushrods work?

Thank you, and yes I was referring to the pushrod where it dead ends to the rocker. I'm curious what the reasoning is for drilled pushrods if the motor still has oil galleys for rocker shaft oiling. That's why I thought there may be an oil pressure drop, with 16 new pathways for oil to leak . I...

    Will these pushrods work?

Thanks. I've had the pushrod holes enlarged. Hopefully it'll be enough to provide clearance

    Will these pushrods work?

More Information for MELLING MPR381 I need to buy new pushrods as I have lost the original ones from my 1990/91 360 I am putting a set of 1974 360 heads on it. The block has the oil galleys for the rocker shaft. But these push rods are drilled. I have a few thoughts running through the old...

    Intake coices

I dropped mine off with block heads and crank and I'm at about 3,700 right now completely ridiculous. Line hone, oversize, deck, crank, and rods resized, new exhaust valve seats, heads milled, heads machine for new rocker springs and valve stem seals probably more than I've forgotten.

If the budget was unlimited, for sure. I'm already way over budget in the damn machining!

    Intake coices

I'm building a 360 small block with 8.7 CR a 224 @ .050 duration with a 500 lift and magnum exhaust manifolds. I have two intakes a factory 4bbl (1974) or an edelbrock torker. I like the idea of the weight savings of the torker. But what say you guys/gals?

    Plastic splash guards?

Funny thing I was on the ram website the other day building a 2500. One of the options was plastic wheel well liners. Im not sure if they covered the wheel wells or what but I believe the price was around $100 seems like a no brainer to me
