    W2 intake manifolds pics

Actually that's 5600 rpm. FABO shrinks the pictures when I post them, so hard to read. Also read the note that says, "Doesn't like to run out of gas" They tested this "8bbl Program" on 288, 305, 340 and 360 motors also. I assume these were all tunnel rams.

Here's some vintage Tunnel Ram tests from 1979 at Bob Torozzi's ... Two different Holley Pro Dominator intake's and one modified Edelbrock "short"? intake. SVI is Ted Sphear.

Cost for labor on stroker build?

Should be same labor to build one as 340/360/318. As long as you have stroker kit with I-beam rods that doesn't require notching block. If you are a under 500 horsepower street motor you don't need H-beam rods. Stock 340 stroke is 3.31"... 4" stroker is 4.00". That's a difference of .69"...

With the post 1971 Smog Regulations, you'd have a good flowing head with small smog cam. Sorta like a mid 70's Ford Cleveland.

    W2 intake manifolds pics

Yes, I realize it's not a production W-2 head. I wonder if it's a early W-2 with leftover crossover or something closer to the LRE development (pre '78-79) with an added crossover. There were all kinds of SB development castings floating around. Square port W-2, "Petty" castings, W-3, W-2-1/2...

Is this a W-2 head with heat crossover? It’s a picture from an early Larry Atherton Mopar Small Block book

    W2 intake manifolds pics

I'd have to look more to see if there is any reference to a W-2 with heat crossover in Bob Tarozzi's notebooks. Is W-1 a T/A head? It’s seems like the W-2 design waited around before being available for sale. The stuff below sounds like W-2 was well developed by May 1973. I have W-2-1/2 and...

    340 X Head Value

Yes. After surfaced and wire brushed to get other rust off. The rust on the deck side from being in moisture is a hurt. And the general rust, even though small. The resto guys want to paint them nice and for the paint to stick and last. Yes, they were done. But 20 years ago. The rubber valve...

You think the M1 is a little less aggressive for a street/milder motor with the curved runners?

    SB Stroker Intake Choices

Single plane with that cam and on street (not going to hook up very good anyways). Since you have the weiand single plane, might as well run it.

    WHAT IS THIS??

That “sand” might be calcium and mineral dropout. Same stuff that forms in your home water heater over time. Spending your time and effort now trying the reach and clean the furthest from the freeze plug holes will just resist overheating in future. Your time is very well spend cleaning the...

    408 stroker head gasket recommendation

Not sure if that's quite big enough cam to overcome 10.6:1+ with 91 octane. The 416" I have: aluminum edelbrock heads, .040 quench, 274/280 dur (236/[email protected]), with .502/.511 lift. I have 9.7:1 measured compression. It’s on the edge of detonation. On 95+ deg days up steep mountain it will...

    408 stroker head gasket recommendation

    340 block- Casting #s, Vin#s, And Assy #s

69 340's were turquoise blue. Also, check the area around the VIN pad. I've seen the stamping in the casting above the pad and even on the oil pan rail (car below). This is a 66K mile original 340 auto swinger from the LA plant. History known from 2nd owners from early 90's. Absolutely...

    Daily driver small block build

IMHO, you’ll need a bone stock injected 5.9 magnum factory tuned with auto overdrive trans and a 3400 lbs max abody You’ll need to cut things up to fit the overdrive trans. All that and driving 80% Hwy miles like a grandma to get 20+ mpg

    Mild 408 W/1.88" Valves

Wonder if the seller put the 408 together with a bunch of new and used parts bought on the cheap and tossed together. Hints of a flipper move? Who knows. Was it advertised to current owner as “rebuilt” ?

    My 340/420 Stroker Build
