I started this thread two years ago. Here is an update. I sent the steering gear box and the power steering pump out to Steer and Gear for a rebuild. I am happy with the results. no more leaks. I chose to keep the steering feel at the factory stock settings. I think it is a little tighter than...

The hydraulic lifters did not start until 1982. The 77 head is a peanut plug head. Nothing wrong with either. The drool tube heads are fine, as long as you keep good tube seals in.
Wow. That's some crazy **** with the brakes. And I thought I'd seen some sketchy stuff from the PO's on my projects. However, I can't hold a candle to this junk.
