Oh...somehow I thought he did, thanks Rob for letting me know. Well as you say, it can be done and look good, and save a lot of money. If you get the second coat on within six hours, you don't even have to sand in between.
FABO member clhyer painted his Duster with a roller. I've seen the car and it's beautiful. It's white with black accents. Yes white is more forgiving. I believe he is happy he decided to use the roller technique. Some people would rather learn a new skill and spend considerably less.
You guys didn't see where he found out the rules don't allow metallic paint or orange.
With those limitations maybe just go with a very light beige that won't cause too much glare when you're driving. Let the car's performance do the talking, not the paintjob. Look at Keith 66340's Valiant.
I'm a fan of Turbine Bronze, it's unusual but people like it, and it's a Mopar color as well as being period-correct so it will fit in with your nostalgia theme.
By the way if you're not satisfied with what the Insurance Co offers you can usually persuade them to give more. What they pay out to fix our cars is small change compared to the new cars.
Sorry about this, I know how you feel, when it happened to me a FABO member had the parts, you might start a new thread in parts wanted.
Luckily our cars are tough, and fixable.
grump have you tried kicking the door real hard while you pull the door handle? My door seemed welded shut but I got it open with a hard kick then I was able to adjust it, went from a 3 door back to a 4 door lol.
Someone else may have a more complete answer...but I had the same problem on a c-body and moving the striker plate 'out' just a tad got the door to latch properly again. However now I have some wind noise.
I don't know how many were made, but I do remember that combo from that era, not hugely popular but not too rare either. A neighbor lady had a '74 Mustang II, white with a green interior...she loved that car lol.
Spray-glo out Buford Hwy past the Pull-a-part treated me right. It's mom & pop owned (Ed and Shirleen) but at the same time you get the back-up of it being a franchise. The only issues I had were they painted over my pentastar emblem and my trunk lock, and they forgot to paint under my hood...
