You need to limit the mechanical advance in the distributor. There are multiple ways to do it. Fbo plate weld the slots. The newer aftermarket style distributors have a torque screw you loosen and adjust it that way.

Your not a hack! The Webers have stud mounts on the bottom that can be used to support the carbs. I just got some 10 MM bolts, cut some spacers and mounted the plate. Won't make a difference in a Drag Car, but I don't think it will hurt. And if I drop a jet or screw it should hit the plate and...
