    rebuilding an alt

Many parts for rebuilding are not available. It is best to buy an alternator already rebuilt that has all the good parts in it and is guaranteed.

Willie Mays was Barry Bonds’s Godfather. Rest in peace Barry!

    Random Thermoquad Carb

The carb model number is a 4 digit number stamped on one of the base plate mounting feet, will start with a 6 or 9. Numbers on the air horn are casting #s, not part #s. There is no 'jetting' in the base plate, so another BP with the same vacuum fittings will work. Make sure ALL channels in the...

#24 Willie (The "Say Hey" Kid) Mays is now up to bat with the legends of all time

Need some help on pulley sizing

The fan speed is important, but the water pump speed is just as important or maybe even importanter. If you know what I mean. lol

    rebuilding an alt

Diodes do not 'wear' out. Unless somebody reversed the bat leads they should be ok. Easy to check.

63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

You're doin some fine work here, Dne. What's this about a cart for "scrap metal". C'mon man! lol Get this though. We got a cat from a local lady about 5 years ago. Kitty's siamese had died and she wanted another one. I found her one in Byron, Georgia, about 30 miles south of us. The lady's...

#24 Willie (The "Say Hey" Kid) Mays is now up to bat with the legends of all time

One of the greatest ballplayers of all time passed earlier today at 93. He just said yesterday that he wouldn't be able to attend the upcoming game between the Giants and Cardinals at historic Rickwoods Field in Birmingham, AL, where he first played professional baseball in the Negro Leagues...

    1972 Demon with 71 340 casting

It makes sense when you think about it, because 72 was the year they changed from gross HP rating to net. Thanks for that.

Need some help on pulley sizing

When you buy those fancy alum pulley kits that advertise 'more hp' because they have reduced the size of driven pulleys, they do not tell you that the overheating you are going to get is included in the price!! Use a 160-180 t/stat, not a restrictor. Use a shroud & plug any gaps so that ALL the...

    1972 Demon with 71 340 casting

Yes, I heard of a couple high compression 340s in 72 cars but never seen 1 in person. But I have seen atleast 20 low compression 340s with steel cranks in 72 cars. In fact I was one of the lucky ones to own a 72 340 swinger in the early 80s but I didn’t know that at the time. Sadly it has...

63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

Well its been quite awhile since your last post , and yes I know you’ve been busy on that other non car project . As for torsion bars I used the Formula S from the Barracuda, they are just right for the Dart for a good ride and handling.

    Quarter Mile Gear Selection

The last things you buy on a race car are the torque converter (power band dependent), shocks (ride height dependent) and gears . In my experience you can get pretty close to your intended powerband by providing factual information to an experienced cam grinder/engine builder.

    Quarter Mile Gear Selection

Just stopping here to wait for the "we don't race dyno's" crowd. The best way to know what gear you need is by doing math. In order to have accurate numbers for the equation you need to know where the engine makes peak hp and how well it carries the power band. I am thinking you will be close...
