After a couple more hours of checking and double checking I got something.. maybe. I think this is a forward pattern valve body. I hear several check balls rattling around instead of just 1. The number 1217 may be HP1217, by Hughes Performance. And they specify the reverse pattern is HP1217R...

With bolt on center cap or push thru center cap ? Flat mounting face or recessed areas for lug nut washer ? Presume your trying to match what you have on rear or doesn't matter ?

Early production carbs different idle circuit all had plain s numbers. Added A indicates revsion, new idle circuit. Runing production change mid year ,check dates on carter list.
