The oil filter can make a difference, some are smaller than others. Unless It's a PH8A size, it might not take a full qt.

Why not just cut out 2 rectangles the correct size and location for the clips you bought, (like in the photo of my post with the 67 dart door) Simple, no welding, permanent, repairable by replacing the clips in the future.

1 qt is about 7/16" on the dip stick. By my calculations you MIGHT have around a qt too much. Personally, i would dump the oil and the filter. Refill with 5qt and remark the stick. too little oil bad, too much oil bad. too much oil can foam up.

Agreed, but the manufacturer AND the company having it manufactured should be doing quality test to insure the painting process is satisfactory. Paint adhesion should be one of the tests! Hold the sellers / manufacturers feet to the fire or we all will get more crap like this.

I think you have 2 different springs. One looks like 4 full turns and the other is 5.
